The Athletic: Sam Leavitt possibly to Miami or TTU

JKS keeps being brought up as a "great passer," but the raw numbers are very inconsistent, but then again, so has his blocking and skill position guys. He does make some really nice throws every game though.

Between the two, I would lean Bailey, personally. I think he's a better fit for Miami, assuming no major changes to the offensive staff. I know he laid a giant egg this past weekend, but his receivers were blanketed and he was running for his life. He took a few serious shots, too.

Leavitt is intriguing. He was dealing out there at ASU before his injury.

Gotta say if you're of the opinion that Leavitt is overrated and that we shouldn't take him if he goes in the portal, I don't think that means the case is somehow better to take CJ Bailey.

I haven't watched Leavitt play this year. I remember last year he seemed a bit overrated, but the bullish case for him is he can play like he did against Arizona and ISU late in the season for a full season.

With this group only “special” trait is Sellers running ability so that’s already a risk
JKS’ arm talent is top shelf elite. Whether or not he’ll leave Cal, no clue, and I personally always want a guy that can run a little bit, which he can’t.

But that dude’s ability to throw the football is as elite as elite traits get.

If he signs day 1 of portal opening, I’d be all in.
Jesus Christ brother!

this guy? 61% completion percentage, not a good stat if you like accuracy as you say you do. faired poorly against stiff competition, not sure SDSU is stiff, but semi-hard

SDSU defense this year has been excellent

I don’t endorse any of these QBs over the other as I haven’t really watched many of their games. I did watch some of the Cal vs SDSU game and it was bad for the cal kid. SDSU has a legit defense this year though. I watch some of their games because I live in SD

I wholeheartedly do not understand the deal with Bailey around here outside of this board.

He's a good college QB with inconsistent mechanics playing in a wide open offense. What I saw on Saturday should absolutely steer people away from him.

This is the biggest thing that makes it difficult to judge. Look at the concerns about Ward's fumbles and how they disappeared with a good OL.
Exactly! Leavitt is very Ward-like in the pocket. He's extremely athletic, throws well outside the pocket, has great pocket awareness, and will absolutely level up his game behind a good OL. I also think he would be a perfect fit for Dawson's system.

Personally, I like all these guys.

We had average to terrible quarterback play for twenty years. Now we’re talking about NFL prospects with proven college production.

God Bless the Portal.
Long gone are the days of a backup QB ******* the kickers girlfriend and the starting QB saying he wants to be sober whilst smoking his fourth ounce.
