We have our most talented players and coaches at the two most important positions on the field.

Coach Richt is a proven developer of quarterbacks and he has one of the best quarterbacks in the country. Coach Kool is the best DL coach in the nation and he has seven high school All-Americans on the DL.

If you're great at those two spots, you will be a great team. It won't happen overnight, but we have the raw materials to get there.

A Thursday pump up post to get us working stiffs to the weekend. And true. I'll take it.

I'll be optimistic if Milo and St. Kill it in spring. Offensive line needs to 180 or I can't be too high

Excellent point.

Richt is 1000000x the offensive coach/QB coach that Coley was. This should be a huge area of upgrade and should pay big dividends on the scoreboard.

I've said since we hired him that Kool is going to make the biggest difference on this team. People are calling guys like AQM and Chad busts, but they don't give enough credence to the fact that they were being completely wasted and abused in a horrific defensive system.

Kool is going to be like a kid in a candy store. He's used to working with 2 and 3 star talent and getting phenomenal results. He's going to feast on the monsters we have in the stable on the DL.

We have experienced coaches in the three position areas that matter most: quarterback, defensive line and offensive line. The fact that Mark is the OC is huge. That's not speculation it's what Jon has said as well as Mike Bobo. Jon is really acting as a GA on steroids and Brown is doing the grunt work.

Im not expecting a super season but we do have alot to work with. That dl should make the secondary look good especially if we r attacking. We have no threat at rb so teams will come after us as well with that bumb *** OL

Haven't seen anyone call AQM a bust, that guy goes hard and make plays, chads play so far hasn't been stellar to say the least but I'm hoping with a new scheme and the best dline coach in the country he can live up to his massive potential. I'm glad richt is coaching kaaya so we won't have to deal with the run pass option drop back that coley loved for kaaya to have to do every passing down... When was the last time we snap the ball and took a 3step drop back and got the ball out, feel like we haven't seen that in years.... This will be a great season

I just left an upgrade over last staff in the toilet . We can't help but be a way better team next year

Agree completely but it CAN happen overnight...depending on what your definition of "it" is. Michigan went from 5-7 to 10-3 and a bowl win with less talent and nothing more than a flip in the mediocre coaching script. I expect and demand nothing less happen here this fall.

Brown is a pretty solid RB coach as well and Diaz has done well with LB in the past. We should be better at every position outside of the secondary.

QB - returning starter - Kaya
RB - everyone is coming back and the return of Gus the bus.
TE - everyone is coming back
OL - everyone is coming back plus a few RS Freshmen who may contribute this year
WR - we lose Scott and Waters but Coley and the Freshmen should fill in just fine.

DT - we lose Kamalu and Heurtelou but we got a real coach now...
DE - everyone is back with a real coach
LB - lose Kirby and McCord but Kirby didn't play much last season either. The 3 EE should provide upgrades and we get Owens and Gayot back.
CB - losing Burns and Howard will be hard... not much depth here.
S- Bush was our best safety but we still have Carter, Jenkins, Johnson

K - returning starter
P - returning starter

No threat at rb? Yearby and Walton are not elite but are very solid capable backs.

Add Gus, Gray and Homer to that... not a bad stable of backs. We also have the best receiving backs which is important for our offense. Brown is also an upgrade at coach over Ice. Let's see if he can help Gus become the beast that he has the potential to be. Walton will be a stud with a year under his belt and some added strength and size.

OK, we have talent but is it comparable to Bama, Clemson, Mich, FSU ? No, not at this time. But I might
see us playing in the Coastal Champ PROVIDING the team makes the transition to Richt's and
Kool's system. At worst, forgetting 2016, but putting your money on 2017. In reality I think the
team needs 2 yrs of Richt.

I think our starting talent is comparable at most positions, we just don't have the depth that they have. We can't afford injuries at several positions....

I will be very curious to see what Walton can do this year with a more experienced OL.

My huge red flag for Walton are his incredibly poor stats. His 3.5 yards a carry was among the worst for all RBs and his long run for the year of less than 30 yds is among the worst for all RBs with over 100 carries.

There's talent at DE...I think we all know that.

What many of us have forgotten about is one of the few parting gifts Golden actually left us....and that's the chance he took on Gerald Willis. You're talking about a former 5 star defensive tackle who is 2 years removed from high school.

There's reason for optimism here. Any less than a 10 win season would be a huge disappointment in my eyes. We also get FSU at home so it's time to end that streak as well.

Yearby and Walton are elite talents our oline sucked bad this year.

Big Butch Davis fan here, but I've told all my FSU nemesis fans that this year - we're going to beat them like a rented mule.

We've come so close so many times - and just couldn't close. Wore out. Went dumb. Sorry defensive scheme and sorry coaches.

Not this year.

I'm optimistic for the many of the same reasons:
1. Real HC, OC, DC, DL, RB, DB and WR coaches
2. Won 8 last year, no reason we won't win 10 with the change in competence
3. 100% confidence the defense will be unrecognizable in their quality of play and aggressiveness
4. Offense will be more explosive, better red zone play and 17 points per game better
5. Special teams will be a positive factor, score points and change field position
6. If they stay healthy LB'er play will be solid until 3 studs gain experience and ? which one joins the rotation
7. With a better OC and OL coach I'm optimistic the OL can be adequate to solid. Certainly improved.
8. New S&C program, mental and physical toughness will be much improved as well.
