Thank you Narduzzi

When they made that FG, I figured we would have a late shot at a FG and miss it. It would've been the perfect end, besides winning of course. Could you imagine this place if all Pitt did to win was kick FG's and we lose another one because we can't hit one?

Did the same thing against Penn State

The one vs PSU was even worse, as he was down 7 at the time, on the 1 w/ 4 min left. Even if they made the FG, he would have still needed a TD to win. All the corching in our division makes it even more frustrating we can't even win it.

The fg by Narduzzi wasn’t the problem; the problem was his defense comes out w a stop as soon we get the ball back, and this dude runs the ball 3 str8 times w little success and gives us the ball right back.

That was corching 101, especially since we were selling out on the run to stop them for bleeding the clock.

Again, we’ll take the W by hook or crook

I think Narduzzi's biggest corching (and Whipple's) was that the one formation we could not stop was when they put in the extra lineman, and somehow, they didnt do that on the last three and out.

I agree the 2pt try was the correct call. Miss and we're still up 4 and a FG won't beat us.

I also thought the TO Manny called with about 4 minutes left with Pitt 3rd and about 5 was a good call. Saved a lot of time as Pitt seemed to be trying to run clock.

For out corching us. Key play in game kicking fg when on our 1 in 4th quarter. We are realing and they should have went for the kill. Even if they don't get it we are in our own endzone showing no signs of offensive life. Safety was most likely outcome and you take lead anyway and get the ball back. Worse case they would have gotten a short field to kick a fieldgoal again or even score TD. I think narduzzi **** the bed.
In your own answer you show why he was right to kick the field goal, our offense wasn't doing jack. He figured the lead would hold. Kicking was the smart move.

Well, that's our MO this year.

If we are going win, we are going to back into it with some help from the opposition.

I'm happy we won, but watching all the clowning and dancing after a baseball victory against freakin Pitt? Pretty sad.

The other part I'm sure others noticed....I have NEVER, especially from a sorry squad like Pitt, seen so much taunting and vitriol from their sideline when our players took a lick over there.

Why are we focusing on "if we got the ball back". Pitt was out of timeouts with 50 seconds left and needed to drive 80 yards.

Not focusing on it at all.
We went for 2, I'm good with that.

In my response to coffeecane i said "If there was more time on the clock".
There are coaches out there that would go for 2 with that score with, say, 3 minutes left.
Wrong move.

Did anyone notice on the sideline before the 2pt attempt, a player is explaining to Perry why we are going for 2. Perry just gives a look, like WTF are we doing. Personally, kick the PAT and give the kicker some confidence moving forward. Now, the kicker hasn't missed a PAT yet and he already thinks the coaches dont trust him

Simple reason. A five point lead at that point of of the 4th quarter is of no value vs. a six point lead. If Pitt were to to score a TD, making the two would have at least does allow the unlikely possibility of OT if Pitt were to get a TD then miss the extra point? HC's have a book on these situations. Manny was simply following the math. Good for him.

He made the right decision kicking the field goal. With our kicking game nothing is a guarantee and he knows our team is far worse when trailing it’s a psychological thing, if we had been up 10-9 say they don’t score and 4th and goal it would’ve been a huge momentum swing for us and would’ve needed a stop and then another drive into field goal territory. Say he kicks it and we’re down 12-10 that forces us to almost need to score a TD cuz I don’t think there’s any chance manny puts the field goal unit out there, and with the way our offense was playing the odds of us not scoring that TD were pretty high.

Agreed. I was suprised they didn’t go for it, especially with a mobile QB. And like you said, the worst case is likely Miami backed up inside its own 2 yard line.

I’d have still gone for the TD.

They have a long range PK (easily made a 54 yarder earlier) and would have gotten the ball back soon enough.

Really, what was aggressive about that call?? It made no sense and converting it wouldnt effect the outcome
It wasn't aggressive but it was the right call. If you make it you're up by 6 and they have to then make an extra point to win it if they score a touchdown. It probably wouldn't matter but might as well make them get the extra point for the win.

Yeah If it had been converted it would have took a TD and an extra pt to win and we should know extra pts are not a given.

Said in his post game presser that he thought his defense was playing well enough to win with field goals

Everyone is missing the real reason we went for 2 smh. That was Manny’s version of running up the score.

you do realize they took the lead right? He would have looked beyond stupid if they failed on fourth and not taken lead. Factor in how bad Miami’s kicking game is, basically we needed a TD to win. Somehow JW saved the day. But Narduzzi made the right call.

That was the worst 2 point attempt of all time
It wasn't pretty We know we need to find a new play so when it counts we m

I explained my rationale and stand by it.
