Texas fires Tom Herman

Programs like Miami, Texas & USC should never be as irrelevant as they currently are. I’m no genius but it’s really not rocket science.

I wouldn’t put SC in that category as they, at least, won their division 3x out of 6 years, Conference 1x in the last 4 yrs, and played in 2 NY6 bowls in the last 5 yrs. But it’s bad by their standards for sure which is y Helton is on the smallest of limbs.

UT & Miami is mind boggling, legitimately

Texas doesn't settle for mediocrity, they know they f'd up that hire and are moving on to big fish. Money talks.
They don't settle for mediocre they just ARE mediocre and hiring a guy that was a drunk at USC doesn't seem like the right move if we're positing the notion that Austin is a pressure cooker atmosphere.

Bro, I was told firings don’t happen like this. Yet all I saw was Michigan fire Don Brown immediately, and Texas firing Herman immediately.

Fans here live in this bubble & don’t see how other programs work.
They don’t..but Michigan didn’t win a game with blue chip talent all throughout the roster. Herman under achievied with a stacked deck of talent also...they are firing Herman to bring In sark..that’s a lateral move Imo. Texas oil money on sum other ****..also Herman was getting *****ed by Jimbo on the trail

The lateral move or who they hired is none of my business. My point is that we were told by fans here, that firing Baker, Rumph or any change in staff is not realistic this soon. That’s not how things work. Well; other programs are saying hold my mf beer.

The rhetoric that’s spewed on here is absolutely phenomenal. That’s y I love OT’s about other programs to expose how many here (although that’s starting to dwindle) can’t see past how Miami operates.

Yeah. That place is straight politics deal with that money them boosters throw around. Heard sark is they next guy. I don’t see it tbh..way too much alcohol to chop from in Texas
Their overwhelming financial advantage also serves as their downfall. They have the freedom to make frequent changes if they wish, but the constant turnover - and the ability to do so - is like a huge drogue chute attached to the back of the program.

Tom Herman was not a surefire failure at UT, and might have succeeded. We’ll never know. As I said before, Dabo would have been fired at Texas. Butch Davis would have been fired at Texas. It works both ways. They have the ability to rid themselves of failing regimes, but it also instills the impatience that keeps them from potentially hanging on to coaches that might actually be what they were looking for to begin with. What Texas is looking for is immediate - Year 2 results. Aside from Stoops, Carroll, Myer, and Saban (at Alabama), that’s generally not frequent.

Nobody, at least not me said firing a dc or position coach can’t be done. It’s the firing a HC after 1 szn or a 8 win szn that is unrealistic. Even with the firing of Herman it’s kind of questionable if your replacement isn’t a top tier coach. But for them they got the bread...we are not Texas. Never have been bro. But as far as firing assistants we have seen that done dating back through Coker and Shannon and manny just last year

New twist

I've seen several posters here point to Texas as a program that really cares about football, unlike UM. Yet UT went Skrong, Herman, and then offered to Sark.
If I didn't know better, I might suspect that how much a school cares or not isn't nearly as important as making good hiring decisions.

Sark was so-so at UW albeit better then (much) Ty Willingham but couldn’t handle the pressure of Blue Blood football @ USC and succumbed to the bottle. And he’s gonna be able to @ Texas? No F’ing way. Texas can have him & nothing wrong with being Saban’s OC and collecting $2.5M / yr
