Texas and Strong considering parting ways- Jason Cole

If you want talent to be developed, An elite talent evaluator, top 5 defense, and one who recruits well in south Florida, commands respect in the area then Charlie is the guy outside of Butch and it's not even close..... This fan base is clueless, people will b*tch and complain about whoever is hired... At everyone of his stops beside Texas he was extremely successful but people are not talking about that.... Or the fact that he everything working against when he took the job as well as below average talent...

Texas defense is currently ranked 87th. One slot above the immortal Mark D'Oritos, who is at 88th.

What was his rank at UF or Louisville with Florida recruits, I'll wait... Texas is devoid of talent right now... They have 6 freshman starting which is the most in the country...

I see you are back on your slurp status. Check it.....

Texas had two top 5 class and one top 20 class before Strong came on board. That's what he inheritted. Texas has out recruited EVERY SINGLE TEAM in the last 5 years....period. This is the same bull crap excuse people, like you, were using for Golden. He thought he was ready for the big stage, like Golden, b/c he did his thizzle in the AAC....then big boy conference called them up and they both got that @$# chewed up. So what now? You want to repeat history by hiring another failed AAC coach to run the U? You didn't get enough of Golden?

I don't care if Strong is black (and for the record, I'm black)....we need a someone who's a proven winner AT THIS LEVEL. F a lower tier level...that don't help me nor my Canes none. Man, get yo' mind right.

Yeah you do lol, Texas has not outrecruited Fsu, Alabama, lsu

Think he was talking about in the Big 12.

The moderators got rid of my other thread, anyway Im told that Strong is looking at houses in Florida. Tifwiw. I think he would do well here.

Golden might give him a real deal.

Charlie can take that money he stole from Texas, along with his buyout, and retire in Miami.

And I keep hearing that Strong is a great recruiter in South Florida, but at Louisville who did he really pull? Who did he really beat out other top recruiters for?

Bridgewater , He got lucky that Shannon got fired ...
Keith Brown, he only got because he also offered his brother ...
James Burgess, UM backed off recruiting him..
Radcliffe, we didn't even recruit..

Michaelee Harris, Corvin Lamb, BJ Dubose, Charles Gaines, Gerod Holliman, Andrew Johnson, John Miller, Jermaine Reve, Eli Rogers. And Calvin Pryor & D Mount from Florida but not South Florida.

Basically the foundation of a solid team that beat the crap out of Miami (and UF).

At everyone of his stops beside Texas he was extremely successful but people are not talking about that though....Or the fact that he had everything working against him when he took the job as well as below average talent at best.... Regardless he is better than Cristobal by far. The Texas highschool schools SCOLDED him from trying to take 5 kids from Florida instead of "their" players. Let's be real Charlie would do GREAT at Miami and will fix all of the problems plaguing the program... Defense, penalty issues, winning at miami( much better talent than Texas by far on the team to begin with.....),recruiting in south Florida. Coaches trust Charlie...

1. Where is the proof he is an elite evaluator? His 2012 and 2013 class at UL does not have the NFL talent that 2010, 2011 class. Did he just get lucky?
2. He has had 1 top 5 defense in 6 years as a HC. His defense this year is awful
3. His teams are always awful offensively, except 1 year with Teddy B as a Heisman candidate. He's had 1 year of his offense in the top 50 in CFB.

So at best we are getting a good defensive coach who would ignore one of our biggest built in strengths, explosive offensive talent.

At worst we are getting a guy who hit at a perfect time at UL w/ Teddy B, can't stop modern offenses, and still would ignore one of our biggest built in strengths.

I'm convinced most of you have never seen a Strong coached football team outside playing Miami under Golden.

So putting mostly multiple 3star underrated Florida players into the league 14 to be exact is not elite? Outside of Gerod holliman and bridge water he put 12 3stars or lower recruits into the draft......

Funny you only mentioned teams Texas didn't play..

How do their recruiting classes compare vs Iowa States?

Guys that beat the **** out of a horribly coached team? Yes

But that is not an impressive list of talent...

People around here act like he pulled Elite local talent like Amari, Cook, Kirkland, Sony...

He did a decent job of picking his spots and taking the leftovers of what UF, FSU, UM and the rest of the SEC didn't covet

For those that are so vehemently opposed to Strong, would your stance change if you knew Butch wasn't a realistic option?

Also, name me another team other than Louisville who played the way the 'Canes of old played back in the day. They absolutely destroyed us a few years ago. They talked trash directly in our face and made our team look like a pinch of puzzies. They completely dismantled our team. Their defense played lights out. They showed no mercy. They took a dump on our squad and then buried our face in it. I was jealous. They stole our identity.

Teams take on the personality of their head coach. We could do much worse.

Destroying a Miami team from the last 5 to 7 years isn't really some major accomplishment to hang your hat on. If that is your standard, then there are a lot more coaches that should be considered...

No one is talking about his bagman Clint Hurt and his role in recruiting for UL under Strong!!

Bagman Clint is his magic sauce!!!

we do need some tactful grimeyness though....

I bet most of u *****ing about strong, we're all over his nuts when Louisville was beating us with south fl players.

Not an impressive list of talent? They are in the NFL.... All that shows is that he is a great talent evaluator. And remember he was at Louisville you are not going to get the elite recruits of the area because it's Louisville and not Miami, UF, Fsu, osu, bama or lsu...

Im not concerned with the score but the way Louisville played that night. The style of football played on both sides of the ball.

Kansas State gave us an **** beating too but you don't hear anybody screaming for Snyder.

They destroyed a team full of NFL difference makers and starters in the NFL(Miami) that year ...

Everyone around here wanted him 2 years ago.

These are the same people that said rich rod sucked while at Michigan and now want him. Used the same argument about Michigan having all the ressources in the world.

None of this matters. None of it. Know why? Because it happened against an Al Golden-coached Miami team. Golden ruined the culture here and made this program softer than it's ever been before.

People place way, way too much emphasis on having watched Strong's Louisville teams punk Golden twice and Muschamp's offensively-challenged Gators squad in the Sugar Bowl. Now that he's at a program with unlimited resources having to face high-powered Big 12 spreads, he's getting his block knocked off on a weekly basis.
