Texas A&M thread

So no pressures huh? LOL
I don’t trust PFF blindly but when it matches the eyes

'I talked to a couple of offensive coordinators that ended up in the playoffs and they kept bringing up Miami and they were saying, "Yeah, it's a it's a flawed team." team like, yes, they lost a couple of games this year, but if you assume you get their best when they're in the playoff, if you just assume that the uh the matchup advantages they can create for themselves defensively are unlike any other team in the playoff.

And I said, "Well, you mean that within reason, right?" And they said, "No, no, Miami's defensive personnel at their best present a matchup the likes of which we would not see against any other team in the playoff.

That doesn't guarantee anything. What it just means is especially like if I'm thinking about Texas A&M facing them, they are a top 10 run D. So like if they limit your ability to create third and manageable third and short situations for you, you just enter yourself into a situation once again where Marcel's got to throw the ball to win games. So he could do that or it could end up being a minus three turnover day.

The good news for A&M is they I think should be able to put Miami in a very similar spot to where I don't think either team has a ton of success running the ball which means it comes down to quarterback versus quarterback and then their quarterback's got to be playing on the road in Kyle Field and that's an entire outfit that Miami outfit has struggled on the road.'

I didn't watch but the first paragraph, makes my head hurt. So are the flawed or are they good?

I think the thrust of what he is saying is your people on the message boards think **** is sweet because of some upset game that happened but you are gonna get their A game and their A game is the best DL talent in the field causing matchup issues.

Im surprised you think we hold them to 20. That’s an under score. I would expect above 52. I think we need to score 31+ to win the game. Our breakdowns on extended plays (QB created) need to be the overwhelming focus for our Defensive staff.
Texas held them to 17

Yeah I think our defense is good. I wouldn’t expect them to score more than 28. Auburn held them to 16 as well
With two+ weeks to prepare and a lot of explosive players, I mentioned that’s more or less the max I expected them to score. It’s why I say 31+ for us on offense. I figure maybe a 31-27 game. Hope I’m dead wrong, Hetherman comes up with something spicy, and we hold them to sub 21.

Notable that a lot of people (including Jordan Pugh above) are saying aTm's issue has been with outside runs not with phonebooth inside runs

Have only rewatched LSU and Texas games.

LSU had success running inside zone with Berry in the first half before that game got away from them. They should have run the ball a lot more than they did up until A&M got up by 17, since neither of their OTs could block Howell and Co. Wild how quickly that game got away from LSU in the second half. A&M is so explosive, and their ability to flip the field/score on punt returns is a huge concern.

Texas mostly had success running outside, especially when they pulled OL. Wisner's first big run of the second half was inside though. I hope we pull CiCi/Cooper often if Howell is lined up against Bell. Texas popped a big run pulling the RG who obliterated Howell. One of their corners #4 was awful in run support against Texas. The more we can get him involved in run support the better.

I think we will be able to run on them, and I think Pringle is a good bet to pop an explosive against them. Beck also has to be ready to take off up the middle and get positive yards on the ground when he drops back. Their interior DL often leave the middle wide open on dropbacks.

One other thing I noticed was that they struggle to cover TEs in the passing game. Our much maligned TEs should have some chances to make plays in this game, and they have been contributing more in the passing game over the last four games. Sometimes they drop Howell in coverage on a TE and he's easily had down the field.

Have to echo @LuCane on how problematic covering their RBs and TEs (the swedish guy mainly) could be for our LBers. They love to drag Melin Ohrstrom underneath a couple of their WRs running deep. Owens/Morrow in the pass game against Toure/Smith is a really bad matchup for us.

Just watched a bunch of TAMU.

Looks a lot more like a Jay Bateman defense than a Mike Elko one, eh?

On the flipside there are wide open receviers all over the place in Klein's scheme.

Really hard to predict what youre going to get out of the TAMU offense. Reed at times looks like the best QB in the nation, but is prone to walking the bases loaded at any moment. But what a talent... when hes on he's zipping it all around the field on target, and looks like one fo the most athletic players on the field. Were South Carolina/Texas just poor games or have defenses found a way to really confuse him?

Can't wait to see what Hetherman comes up with, huge challenge.

With the gaunlet of A&M - OSU - UGA - Oregon.

Its safe to say all position groups gotta play the best game of their lives every game. Lol

For aggies sounds like just dnt leave wr’s running wide open all game. Nor do i want those 10yrd buffers we give up at times. Rough those wr’s up. Contain qb runs as we have all season and have our safeties blow up any screens/sweeps like we have all season.

Ohh and great tackling + low penalties
