BTW - You can get a feel for why golden prefers larger, slower players in Whitlock's comments.

I'm telling u. this they knew NCAA was coming and they hired him because he was a guy they knew wouldnt leave. If they hired even a guy like Tubberville he would have been gone.

I remember hearing that interview and lying to myself by saying he didn't know what he was talking about by pointing to temples record. Just didn't want to believe we had just made a third straight ****** hire

this has been discussed ad nauseam. C-A-G didnt really do anything at Temple but beat bad teams in a really bad conference (MAC). the "turn around" coincided with Temple's move from the BE to the MAC.

Alfraud will be lucky to get a MAC HC job after he's fired from here.

Got into a conversation with my best friend who is a Noles fan. Asked the question "How did Al win at Temple?" Realized that I'd never really thought of it. Serious question, how in gods name did Al turn around the biggest laughing stock in D1 Football and win at Temple?

At Temple, Folden only beat teams that were worse than Temple. Check. He never won the conference. He never beat Above .500 teams at Temple. UM phucked up because they did not vett his wins and loses. On the surface, it looked like he was doing well or "Turned The Program Around" but in reality he never beat one Quality opponent, which Temple has done since Folden left.

Truth is, Folden will always be a Mediocre Head Coach.

The funny thing is we have people bashing Golden, and his job at Temple, but dying to hire Mario. Strange how that works.
Cristobal went 27-47 at FIU.

That's pretty good.

We should hire him next.

I never understood the love for Mario. He's worse than golden - similar kind of record, track record, mentality AND he jilted us for another school. ***** that guy.

Mario is a better evaluator of talent and I think is a better recruiter... That being said, Al is better than him in everything else... Mario can't control his players, he can't coach and he doesn't develop his players... Mario is a type of coach you have in staff to recruit... You just need to have another coach who can actually make up for his deficiencies... As for the record, I would venture that Mario had a tougher schedule facing teams like Bama, UF, Texas A&M, Pitt, Rutgers and Louisville... Only reason why Al plays UL and Pitt is because he's mandated by the conference... He would never schedule teams like that... However he is better than Mario... Al is a mid major coach, Mario is a mid major assistant...
