Telling Gattis quotes from Feldman article on Michigan

And how Mario ever thought it was a good idea to fill a technical staff position like OC with a recruiter doesn’t speak well to his judgement . The best thing an OC can do for recruiting is to score points so parents have a positive perception of the direction of the program
gattis is a recruiter? who the **** is he recruiting bc it isnt WRs

Don’t forget the change in offense staff that saved Harbaughs tenure from relying on gattis.

Michigan had the horses before when Gattis was sucking there: it’s just the primary play caller was total trash who was saved by Weiss.

Kind of a key detail to be missing there.
promotion of Moore and addition of Weiss. gattis is fired if that doesn't happen

interesting article, Gattis had no input on staff as CMC, had made all hires ,to me thats a bad hire by CMC . new OC should bring in his own guys
so there all on the same page........ also it appears CMC is a micro manager and wants to much control.
CMC needs to be a CEO, ( recruit & rebuild culture) hire an excellent OC and let him fill staff with his guys........
gattis was /is a bad hire but a scapegoat.... one of many as CMC had his dream staff that he assembled

So if Gattis is a huge culture issue within the program and Mario is desperate to build culture, how has he not been fired. How much worse could we be with Ponce at interim OC? We already "know" that Gattis won't be with the team next year. Doesn't seem like we will save any money by waiting to fire him. Can someone explain why Gattis is still here?

I didn’t & couldn’t read the article, but I’ll just say this:

A HC should be a HC; I think hiring Coordinators first, then support staff should always be the way to go, that way the OC/DC can be fully on board w/ who’s working w/ them.

I won’t fault Mario for hiring Gattis, b/c on paper, it appeared to be a great hire & I’m sure Gattis interviewed well. Who wouldn’t want a Broyles winner, that was the OC for a CFP team & a former Co-OC for a CFP Bama team? It looked good, & the greater majority on this board thought it would be a home run hire. The only two posters I can vividly recall having some ?’s about this hire were @BS85 & @305to954. I believe @SouthParkCane also had some reservations that I can recall from the “official hire” thread.

It’s clear he’s not a good fit here, but he legit ****ed me off when he was acting real tough trying to chew out X on the sidelines last game. But, I take full responsibility of his incompetence; totally forgot this dude played for my Chicago Bears for a brief moment & some of that incompetency & 80’s O may have stuck w/ him down at Halas Hall.

Anyways, it’s on Mario to fix this completely this off season. Revamp the roster & this staff. If MSU can go from **** to heaven in 2 yrs, so can we.

He doesn't have to fall on the sword, he could just as easily be brought back next year & he can show his play calling & Offensive prowess.

The players are terrible & he's great, so just give him some great players to match his greatness & the results should be similar to Michigan 2021.

It seems plausible enough & I think if Mario really believes this is the case then he can convince the majority of the fan base to back off & give Gattis another shot.

It's simply a matter of communication; if he puts it out there that this is the plan he can turn the tide & extend some leeway in his favor for year 2.

He doesn't have to change anything realistically speaking after this season, especially considering if he signs a top 5-10 class & brings in some impact Portal players.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing it happen tbh, I don't think Gattis will work here at all, but I'm not an expert & don't know sh*t about Offense as is, so I'm more than willing to be wrong like I usually am.

And I'm not being sarcastic either, if Gattis is really who this article says he is, then he actually deserves at least 1 - 2 more seasons with his own recruits to show how great he really is.

FWIW all the media (Feldman included) drooled over the Gattis hire, not one guy said a bad word about him.

Michigan fans were the only ones beating the "Gattis suck" drum.

Not true. Josh Pate said he had numerous people reach out saying it was a bad hire and would not end well. He said either Gattis is a d-bag or it was a random coincidence so many people did not care for him

god no and moorhead said **** this wen to be an HC at Akron
Moorhead is a very good OC. That’s based on undeniable facts, not hyperbole.

Moorhead would not be a good fit at Miami, though. Not now and likely not in the future.

And how Mario ever thought it was a good idea to fill a technical staff position like OC with a recruiter doesn’t speak well to his judgement . The best thing an OC can do for recruiting is to score points so parents have a positive perception of the direction of the program
And he isn’t even that great of a recruiter

He is a good oc. Y’all wanted Joe brady well he was using a lot of moorehead passing concepts at lsu
I didn’t want Brady either. I’m been on record and caught CIS wrath for not wanting Brady.

Moorehead under Mario is not a offense I want to see at Miami. He runs he QB’s to the ground and the passing game at Oregon wasn’t impressive.

Realistically, there is an impossibly small chance that Gattis remains on staff. The most likely scenario is that he goes off for a G5 HC job or something along those lines.

The big question is what happens next.
Hopefully a new OC/QB and WR coaches, each with a connection somewhere. Or at least from similar philosophies.

Do not want Ponce as OC.

Make him an analyst or recommend he seek other opportunities.

Joe Moorhead's offense at Oregon and the Gattis O at Miami have a lot in common but Gattis is missing some key things. I just saw a ton more 11 personnel with SPREAD sets. He also had a HOT route with the RB as a dump off/check down in the flats on most plays. With his 12 personnel, almost always confused the LB or S covering one of the TEs for a wide open play. Due to his SPREAD, the run lanes were bigger, the pass rush was less, and he actually rolled the QB out some as well.

I don't see any of that from Gattis: tight formations even in 11 personnel, no check downs to RB,no rollouts by QBs, our TEs (outside of Brantley can't block when asked)...

What we likely have is the other stuff mentioned: Gattis butting heads with everyone.
Moorhead and Gattis aren’t even the same level of Coach as well.
