Surely they will like the same types of things at 17 as they do even at 30!

I say this as someone in my mid 40s who got a tattoo when I was 19 and while I don't regret it, I certainly would not get the same thing today - but try telling that to 19 year old me.

He got more carries as a freshman redshirt than true freshman so i could see that being the reason why, likely feels like he can keep ascending and building off that. But it’s tough for me to picture him getting more carries than last this szn.

Ill say again I think our guard play can be better this year with samson and max

Its the tackles that will be challenging to replace in a year, bell and Francis were two of our best players last year. Bell didn’t allow a sack, only allowed 15 pressures on over 500 snaps. Francis gave up two sacks but only allowed 9 pressures

I wonder whats up with bonner, its like everytime its talk about LB its toure and chase then straight to what young guy can step up

We REALLY need Cool hand Luke to step up this year...

Gotta have someone in that bullpen if needed...

Man that's some powerful words there. I have two sons in their early 20's and they are just now showing signs of growing up and out of that hard-headed, know everything stage.....just like me. The hardest thing about being a parent at this stage is actually knowing what's best for your kids, then watching them (sometimes) make really dumb decisions and knowing as the parent that I have to let them learn on their own. All I can do is guide them. Don't mean to hijack/derail this, that statement just hit me like a Mack truck.

He has to at least push past Judd. I know the staff likes Judd and I mean no disrespect to the kid, but Nickel was a different level as a prospect. Once he got more comfortable with the system and being in college if he couldn’t push past Judd that would be a huge disappointment

I don’t know if it’s accurate or not but according to the Google stat machine, he had 6 false starts in his career and every single one was in his senior season

Doesn’t seem possible

Sloppy OL play was probably the most frustrating part early last year especially with the experience

OSU game we had zero penalties total (one was negated I think). Do we beat them if we do our typical 7-10 penalties under Mario? I dunno. Probably not

He already has. He will be the backup this year with Judd 3rd.

On a side note I love the ND clowns constantly referring to Carr as a RS freshman being a first time starter as the reason they lost. Dude was RS freshman who is older than Mauigoa lol. Acting like he was some 17 year old reclassified freshman on the road week 1.

Agree wholeheartedly...

Plus it sets us up next year to have him established and we don't have to go into the Portal...

Then the vision for the young gunslingers can really unfold...
 
Malachi's average depth of target was 6.6 yds last year, which surprised me as I would've thought it was closer to 4. We need to bump that up to 10, 8 at a minimum. We need to get him the ball in actual space. If we do, I'd expect him to hit 20tds.

We don't need to settle wr 3-5 until at least the playoffs, if at all. We don't just have a deep room, it's also diverse. We got shifty guys for stiff dbs, fast for slow dbs & tall for short dbs. Just play the matchups. If we have to settle on a top 4, which I know our staff seems to love, then we can let results, effort & work ethic decide near the end of the season.

If our former 5* tackle prospect (Okunlola) can actually play T at a high enough level then that eases some of my concerns for the O-line. I'd much rather have our more skilled guys outside where that skill is more needed & tested.
