Tathan Martell

All three of our QBs are basically on the same talent level but only one of them is box office. Tate's brand is bigger than the other two combined. His play style will put fans in the seats (money) and his personality will get us media coverage (money).

For those who watched Clemson's spring game what is the one thing Dabo wanted to see from Lawrence the most? Extend plays. Who's the best at that on our roster...
Didn't know we were running Clemson's offense lol

Quarterbacks often struggle in spring games. Tate will make throws as well as BIG plays with his feet. He's a great athlete.
Being an "athlete" is nice but, can he throw a ball with some zip on it, coupled with accuracy and, when needed, touch. He didn't show enough of all that in the Spring. Not to mention, ability to read defenses and make good decisions. Hopefully, the practices this Summer will tell a different story.

His arm is stronger than people think. Here's his highlights from 2018.

We don't run Clemson's offense but we do have to face a defense, just like Clemson, and every other team in football. Having a QB that can extend plays is universally something that kills defenses. Ask Nick Saban. He found out the hard way against Johnny Football and Bama has had a mobile QB ever since.

Having a QB that is good at something will always kill the defense. Trevor Lawrence didn't beat Saban with his legs or from extending plays. He just sat in the pocket and lit the field up. Same thing with the current Saban offense...Both Clemson/Bama ditched a more athletic QB who could extend plays for days (Kelly Bryant and Jalen Hurts) for a QB who had better arm talent.

But regardless, that's not Miami. We have a different offensive scheme, different skill sets across the board, and different body types. Its a bit extreme, but the best QB to run say an Art Briles offense, may not do too well in the offense Dan Enos feels comfortable running.

So u think Dabo emphasized that Trevor extend plays just bc? No. He said in the spring game that Trevor left some plays on the field by not extending plays. A QB that can extend plays works in any offense, period. Plays will breakdown and it helps to have a QB that can buy time and make something out of nothing.

You're trying to make it seem like I said Tate will start bc he can extend plays and that's not my point. Tate extending plays is just the cherry on top. He will start bc his play style will put fans in the seats (money), his brand will get us more media coverage (money), and his talent will gets us wins (money). U can take that to the bank.

All the qbs can run. You seem to can't get through your head that enos runs a pro-style offense and in his system he wants a guy who can stand in the pocket and throw it.

You are delusional. Nobody gives a shît about his play style or how many followers he has on social media. You obviously don't know much about miami. All the city cares about is winning. If you don't win nobody is going to games. In 2017 you had fans showing up to watch a richt offense led by rosier because the team was winning.

Run along now. You're not worth the energy to debate with.

Right. Conversely, did Diaz "guarantee" the starting position to Tate?
I don't think he was guaranteed the starting position, but I do believe he was guaranteed significant PT.

Tate is going to play the majority of the games this season whether he's the starter or not.

Don't be naive. Getting a QB like Fields could be the reason u make millions, or if he don't get him, he could be the reason u don't have a job.
Fields is the highest rated player to EVER play at OSU. Even higher than Terrell Pryor. To think that a coach "worth his salt" would not guarantee a starting spot to someone of Fields' caliber is the epitome of naive. But trying to convince a buckeye that they are subject to the same tendencies and tactics as other, lower programs is futile.

Tate's dating the hottest girl on campus now so he's doing very well this Spring. Link below for research purposes.

No way that's the hottest chick on campus, and if she is, no wonder we keep losing recruits to FSU and UF.

Let me be clear, that chick is certified platinum, but ain't no way she's the coldest on campus.

Unfortunately none of our 3 QBs showed enough in the spring to be named the starter and that is from guys that have watched multiple practices and scrimmages. The job is wide open heading into camp. You have 2 guys who played under Richt and another under Urban so going into summer whoever steps up, grasps Dans approach and gives us the best chance to win will be the starter. Plenty can happen in 3 months so let’s hope one of them takes a huge step this summer. Dan is in a tough spot but people with more knowledge than anyone here love this guy and his style and they feel Dan will get the most out of what he has to work with, unlike several of his predecessors
