Tampering

I find Kirby’s remarks even more laughable because I know a guy whose son is at a SEC school. I saw the guy last night and asked him how his son was liking the school and in the midst of the conversation…

“… oh and how about right after the bowl game ________ from UGA called him (his son) from a different number because my son, his mom and me all have his number saved from recruiting and told him if he jumps in the portal and comes to UGA he could get him X amount of dollars in NIL. The current school increased his son’s NIL recently and he had no intention on leaving anyway…”

Nothing about what was said in the conversation earth shattering because “that’s the game right?”. But Kirby puffing his chest out while a prominent member of his coaching staff has dirt on his hands is comical.

SEC cartel got partially broken by NIL. Big reason why Saban retired. The advantage he was milking for years vanished, and his later Bama teams looked nothing like the earlier iterations.

Saban knew his legacy was going to blow up

At least based on the data as it relates to NIL, it appears as though the power of the SEC & BIG10 is as consolidated as it's ever been. What's going to happen when revenue sharing goes into effect? I think the delta between them & everyone else is only going to grow wider.

These sorts of false narratives circulate on this forum, because most fans fall victim to reductionist thinking. For them anything negative associated with the program can only be attributed to poor coaching, & they are incapable of weighing other factors; this is despite the fact CFB being defined by disparities. Nobody can convince me that Nick Saban retired for any reason other than the fact that he couldn’t cheat the system anymore. It’s way harder to actually win when the other teams are playing by the same rules as you.

Or maybe..it's because he's the greatest head coach in the history of CFB, & retired because the sport no longer represents the principles he's tried to instill for 50 yrs? 🤷‍♂️

Illegal bags, & a corrupt NCAA that gives preferential treatment to certain schools have always existed in CFB, but despite that MIA still found a way to win 5 NCs. Furthermore, unregulated P2P actually ends up creating more stratification in CFB, not less, & in the long run will only make it more difficult for MIA to win.

The notion that Saban needed to cheat in order to win 7 NCs is utter nonsense, & only jealous & delusional fans of teams mired in mediocrity believe that. He's the GOAT, because he's one of the greatest process-oriented coaches in the history of American sports.
