There are many levels to cheating.

Obviously, given the Pell Grant Scandal and the sanctions, Butch wasn’t going out dropping big bags. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t cheat. He’s a slimy guy by nature. And I don’t mean that as a slur. It’s just who he is.

Whether it was contacting recruits in a dead period or perhaps telling an assistant to slip a few bucks to some kids for dinner money, there’s no way he was 100% clean his entire tenure here.

And I’m not even going to get into the UNC thing. He hired John Blake knowing full well how dirty he was.

UM was the sh*t in 95??....You don't believe that, do you??....UM was nothing from 93-95....So you can't Honestly say that....They were so good those yrs, that Nobody in America but Butch wanted that job....Erickson left UM devoid of talent (especially at OL and QB) in 95....Terrible recruiter....We went from trash in 95....too this 5yrs later........I know...Butch got Lucky..

He didn’t build it while on sanctions. His teams sucked while feeling the pinch of scholarship reductions.

The players on that 2001 team were recruited and signed knowing sanctions ended in 1997.
 
Why does this thread even still exist? The man is obligated to his opinion. Granted that opinion would only come from a die hard UM fan who’s seen UM longer than I’ve been alive but I respect his stance. I love UM too. Im just not one of the guys who can’t acknowledge others

I cannot and WILL NOT....acknowledge a team that for 12yrs broke EVERY rule in the book....while UM was getting Hammered for kids playing pool for $$$$ and getting into clubs for free....if someone doesn't like that, well that's on them....I give no Fs what their response is....simple as that.

And I respect you for your consistent stance. I ain’t gotta agree with you to see where you coming from you and dee been around the block I listen when y’all speak. My opinion is my own tho
 
These comparisons shouldn’t exist until all players retire from nfl. That’s the only way to compare imo and I’m confident in saying that no teams will match the NFL success of the teams from 99-2003

And I respect that...but I know what I know....I saw it with my own eyes...I literally lived at Greentree from 95-2000....I spent maddening $$$$$ coming down from the Panhandle every yr for 6yrs....

Just Butch??....Lol???....My man...I've been going to UM games since the mid 70s....My favorite UM coach ever is Sonny Lubick....So nobody can tell me that BS....As far as douchebag @Go Canes!! has to say....he's had a plethora of opportunities to say it to my face (in real life) not behind a keyboard like some puzzy...
