Talent of Teams: Miami ‘01 vs Bama ‘18

My Grandfather (Mom's side) was a devout Yankee fan from the 20s until his passing in 1970. My Dad's side were devout Brooklyn Dodger fans during those yrs. (When the Dodgers left for L.A...they adopted the Mets, rather than follow the Dodgers in L.A) My Grandfather and Grandmother (Mom's side) were Yankee Season Ticket holders for 40yrs....so as you can imagine they saw them all, from Ruth to Bobby Mercer. Although Gehrig was his favorite player of all time, he said that Mantle was the best of all of them.
I'm a huge Yankees fan...born in Bronx and went to so many Yankees games as a kid...
Actually still see them every year in Tampa and when they play Marlins in Miami...like last season.

Dude, your championship teams don't get anymore the benefit of the doubt than anyone else. It's such a lazy and stupid argument to simply dismiss greatness because it bugs you. You just hired Mario because he was around and exposed to that greatness and has the rings to prove it. It's such hypocrisy to suggest anything less. A lot less emotion and some respect for that point alone would serve you well. Is that going to happen? No, you are an emotional idiot, but the reality is that your new coach wants a Miami football program built by BAMA. Cheer up there are worse things in life to imitate than BAMA football. Just think how happy Georgia fans are these days?
Our Championship Teams didn't have to Cheat to Win....Your team however, has been on NCAA Probation more than anyone...Why??...For cheating....What a F-ing coincidence....Ask your Midget Cheating Coach, why he came down to UM half a dozen times to watch practices, and get pointers from our HC??..Go back to your Bama board.

Respect a Cheater??....Go F yourself...there's your respect....I know Mario since 1998....I have a family member who coached at UM for 7yrs....86 and 95-2000....I don't need your *** to come on a UM Board, and try to tell me anything. I sat in Mario's office a few weeks ago and talked in length. Why are you even here??....

Yep, you really are quite emotional, aren't you?

Every UM team that Butch beat....had wayyyy more talent than his teams had. That's undeniable...Sure UNC had a few studs when they beat us....but Nowhere near the overall talent.....only haters wouldn't agree....
Well we are talking about @Go Canes!! . He was actively rooting for us to keep a coach that was destroying the careers of our players.

Man this thread has me feeling hype for next year. I learned that without Butch Davis Nick Saban would not be ****. And since he is best friends with Mario we are on the way to winning chips agajn. This **** is simple math y’all, the problem is all you Saban slupers are just too stupid to get it.
Without Bear Bryant, there might be no Miami program at all past late 70s.

Our Hurricanes and Tide (🤮) have an intertwined history.

Schnellenberger left Bama wayyyy before his Dolphins OC days...actually coached for the Dolphins twice, with a stint with the Colts in-between....
100% correct.

My point was Saint Schnelly was heavily influenced by Bear Bryant and had stated so throughout his career.

Obviously Saint Schnelly walked in his own shoes, but his formative years were built by Papa Bear. In turn, he went on to Dolphins greatness and UM greatness...

An argument can be said that Schnelly helped put the nail in the coffin over the previous talk of shuttering the program all together.

and the rest is history....

I believe a similar story could emerge with HC Super Mario Cristobigballs.

He had powerful formative years with Butch DAW GAWD and that, at least partially and probably moreso, set him to the place he finds himself now...even with his stints at Bama under Saban...

I think casual fans (you obviously not being in that group you Cane psychopath you! 🤩) don't realize the connections our Canes have with Bama going back decades...

tangles webs we weave...

As a follow up to above...

A large majority (as with Bama today) of the CFB landscape was heavily influenced by what Miami did as a program (good/bad/ugly) throughout the 80s, 90s, and early 00s. Much lineage of/to today's philosophies can find their way back through to Coral Gables*.

FFS...the NCAA named a rule after our Canes (suck it you loser Longhorns) and it is still somewhat referred to as "The Miami Rule" in 2022.

GO CANES!!

*Certainly even farther back still to other greats

If you want to be Nit Picky....it was actually Lou Saban’s last class that got the ball rolling....He rarely gets the credit he deserves....His last class was Filthy
