Well this would be "interesting" ...

10 Names to know as FSU enters head coaching search

ESPN Analyst Mark Richt

Mark Richt (age 59) — If Florida State goes in the direction of an experienced coach that could get things back on track for a couple years before handing it off to someone else, then I think Richt is a good option. Richt is known as being a stable coach that could win ball games, but never was able to win the big one. FSU is at a crossroad and a veteran like Richt could potentially come in and stabilize things. The big question will be, does he want to coach again? It’s been less than a year since he stepped away and retired from Miami ...
That would be perfect. Mark Richt after they've had their Golden lmao. Not happening though, he's done.

Haha. It certainly would but there's a bigger chance than Rick coming off of a heart attack gets arrested for killing prostitutes than him taking THAT job.

I thought all of our "insiders" said that his buyout was too much and FSU didn't have the money?

Was wondering if they have to pay the 17 mil buy out all at once or could spread it over several years? It's easier to absorb that way.

whoever was most responsible for hiring Corch Willie Golden should not only be fired but should be turning on a spit over an open pit BBQ ..... what a colossal waste of money !

Top jobs, IMO, as of now: (resources, fan support, booster support, legacy, brand, rep, recruiting):

Tier 1: Alabama, Ohio St., LSU, Clemson, USC, ND
Tier 2: Florida, FSU, A&M, Oklahoma, Michigan, PSU, UGA, Texas, Stanford
Tier 3: Nebraska, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, Wisconsin, Auburn, Miami(?), TN
Tier 4: Iowa, MSU, S. Carolina, UNC, Minnesota, N’Wern, OKST, Ark, AZST, Baylor, Utah, TCU (?), VT, BC, WVA, Cal, Colorado, Mizzou

IMO, Florida and Florida State are not better jobs than Miami regardless of what some insist.

UF hired a clear-cut second-tier candidate in Mackletooth, then was unable to reel in either of its first two choices in Chip Kelly or Scott Frost.

Dan Mullen was a just a fall-back candidate who we, too, could have hired away from Mississippi State a few years ago.

I mean clearly they DO have the money for Urban as they've just magicked up $17m from nowhere.

Don’t know y we always put Miami standards on other schools. Lol. They just set NCAA history w this buy out. Pretty sure this was already discussed, prayed over, and planned out. They had a certain w/l standard going in to this season, and Willie failed.

FSU got money; ****, we got money. Difference is, FSU ain’t scared to hit that withdrawal button.

true. The article from ESPN says FSU privately raises the entire $20 million. Of course to your point that has nothing to do how they dispense it either all at once or over several years. Doesn’t buyouts usually get dispensed over the course of several years?

FSU cares about football. If Taggart was here he would have gotten 4 years.

Now that FSU is going to get a new coach we have to fix our problems quickly. (OC, OL, K)

I hope this puts Manny in a fiery mood. Get rid of Enos because my gut tells me Mike Norvell will be the next guy (currently makes 1.8M.)

Also if you don't think no one wants the FSU job your crazy. Taggart is even that respected by his peers.

It’s not “FSU” that cares about football.

It’s the fans.

It’s been confirmed that that money came from boosters, in other words, fans with money.

There’s a difference. We don’t have that level of monetary fan support. That’s just a fact.

Hopefully one day we will.
