FSU had no choice but to pay Coach Taggart about $3 million a win and have him move on. Tallahassee is a blight that would cease to exist without State Government and FSU football paying the bills. Even for a state college FSU is bottom of the barrel. Wasn't it FSU engineering grads that made those killer bridges! They must be real proud of those learned Alumni. What industry could Tallahassee possible attract to keep from becoming a worsening blight if FSU football continued to underperform. Maybe Yeti would move their HQ if given enough money but not sure anyone else would. If FSU football continued under Coach Taggart until his contract ended the whole house of cards "Institute of Higher Learning" was going to be risk of collapsing. I'm guessing it was FSU Alumni who hired Coach Taggart in the first place. Taggart was totally unproven. Losing record and first 2 schools and 7-5 in a single season at Oregon. Maybe if he had developed at Oregon over a 5 year period he'd would have been worth the kind of money they wasted on him. He was smarted enough to con FSU. Or more likely FSU was dumb enough to be conned.
