One example of this happened when Richt was hired. He hired Coach Kul from Missouri before he officially announced Diaz. I'm sure Diaz and Kul were aware of each other taking the jobs but when a position coach has the type of pedigree of Kul or Robinson things like this happen.

PREACH!!! LOL gone are the days of EXPECTING to lose recruiting battles to anyone not named Bama/Clemson/OSU. Outside of those 3 any kid we want that is actually interested in staying home (FL) for school we should get. Losing Tennison's and JDixon's and McBurrows and TDawson's (might actually hopefully can get back in that one), and O-Cooper's (might can get back in that one too lol) should be a thing of the past. We can't get them all but we should certainly land our share of 2-3 CBs per recruiting cycle.

You're underselling TROB if you think he can't beat those 3 schools for local recruits. You don't hire a guy like this to concede local recruits to Clemson and Ohio Taint or anyone else.

True....but.....he didn't have the type of DEF performance/statistics to warrant the DC role....BUT....his recruiting and position group coaching prowess made up the DC letdown to where he's essentially getting paid as a Co-DC but just not a Co-DC. Either way, as long as he has his $$$ he's good to go as he's already WELL established and doesn't need a title to prove his worth.

Can't believe we got this done.....now i'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see how what kind of DL coach, LB coach, and DC coach he flanks TRob with. Not sure if we hire all 3 but at this point from all things being considered it appears we'll hire a DC and DL coach...hopeful the DC is a subject matter expert at LB if Baker is the LB coach lol

TDawson me ya hurd!!!!! IMO w/o additional ICs from NCAA we need a portal WR and a CB whether it's a portal CB or TDawson. Wish we could take 2 CBs and still take the WR and just count the portal CB forward to 2022.

I like his NFL DL coaching history, very telling that he'll be a great DL coach.....but maybe it's just me but I don't want someone who hasn't ran a DEF as a DC....give him Co-DC and then bring me a DC that will switch our DEF to a 4-4 or friggin 5-2 if necessary to stop the run game of a UNC team that we made look like a frickin NFL playoff team.

Am I wrong here guys? As DL coach, yeeauuupp sign me up, pay the man his worth but IMO that doesn't warrant turning over the DEF to him. Although.....if we're talking Baker or Chris Wilson, please disregard everything i just said lol

Just because we haven't announced the DC doesn't mean Manny doesn't know who it's going to be, and its quite possible the guy signed off on T-Rob.

Then move Telly Lockette to LB coach...someone said he was an all american LB but Idk if he has coaching experience at LB

You add an elite recruiter that can now recruit in an unrestricted capacity....can't think of a smarter way to use the coaching spot opened up by Trob taking CB/S room.

He was an all american FCS LB like 25 years ago and never coached on D. Pass. Let him cut his teeth at ST

I know nothing....but you'd have to think with 2 spot remaining after taking our portal DE they'll go WR and CB. and just like when we counted JarridW forward, IF, there's a portal CB out there we count that take forward to 2022. So essentially we could go for TDawson at CB, portal CB which we'd count forward to 2022 recruiting class, and then portal WR but not sure who as there's been SEVERAL names floated out.

Difference too is we won’t be losing kids we should have gotten because of ****** evaluations
