Jimbo can coach circles around Folden....not even close. DOWN VOTE AWAY "GUYSM"
How many coaches were better than Coker when he won the NC?
Lol
How many coaches had rosters better than Coker?

Hindsight is 20/20. Nobody knew that that the 2001 class was an NFL team until they went beast mode in the pros.

I disagree, everyone knew then that the 2001 team was stacked. There where 1st round picks all up and down that roster that all the talking heads where saying where going to be 1st round picks.

If everyone knew it was stacked, why was nobody beating down the door to coach?

Because the players were running the show.

As a coach you want 2 things:
1- Money
2- Control/Power

In 2001, the new coach would have neither!

Didn't Shannon have about the same W/L record as Golden, and have a #1 recruiting class '08. But he was let go for underperforming. Huh?

That was then, this is now. Randy did not have the cloud of an NCAA investigation hovering over his head, fact. Al Golden wasn't told about the investigation, fact. Golden had to deal with negative recruitment of the pending NCAA sanctions, fact. Don't know what else I can say is that golden would of had 10 win seasons from 2007 to 2010.

This is a troll right? The mods did an excellent job taking away the rep system. Now morons like this go undetected. The "cloud" may effected some recruits but the classes under the "cloud" was still good enough not to go 6 and 7....Miami has a potential of 5 players that can go in the top 3 NFL rnds. Does Golden really need twenty 5* players to win 10 games?

Golden's best season was in 2013. He won 9 games because that schedule was pathetic. And what makes it even worse is Miami had to fight from 1st to 4th to get a win on a lot of them to get the win. Like that epic Wake Forest game. Golden could have the combine talents of the 2001 Canes and the 1995 Cornhuskers and still lose at least 4 games

You can hate hate hate all you want, it does not change the fact that Miami's head coach is Al Golden and was handcuffed with Stephen Morris as their quarterback. If he had an experienced Brad Kaaya, they would of been in the ACCCG.

2001, when the canes won the national title, it was all the players. But let me guess, those same players that stayed aren't to blame for the Fiesta Bowl? And let me guess, you want to blame the coaches for that? Can't have it both ways. You simply cannot pat the players on the back for a national title and not the head coach. You also cannot blame the coaches for losing a game and not blame the players. Can't have your cake and eat it to.

Remember it was the players who wanted Coker, they all threatened to transfer. So let's not use the 2001 team as an example, do you think Golden would have the same success at FSU as Jumbo Fisher is having? Because I don't, even if you give Golden Jameis for 2 years.

Any coach who gets a heisman quarterback is going to have a lot of success.

Why are we doing these hypothetical? Why not use facts? Golden has talent. Yes a true as true freshman can be was starting for Miami, but Miami had gamebreakng WR, a go to TE, a blindside tackle, and a workhorse back that can take pressure off his freshman QB. What does he do?

Nick Saban used to win 8 games a year at Michigan State. Now that his roster is loaded with 5 star talent he's winning NCs. This is a player game. Coaching is tremendous overrated.

Coaching is overrated. You think Nick Saban would of won more games at Temple than Al Golden? Nope. Legendary coaches like Bobby Bowden, Woody Hayes, and Schnelly had overnight success? NO.

Unfortunately, we live in a society where people need instant results. These same guys would have been looking to lynch Saban after he went 7-6 his first year at Bama.

Agreed. Short term gratification drives the masses. Our beloved Cane fans are no exception. Al said trust the process, and we are not doing it.

Simply put: Golden needs more time, and the fan(atic)s needs to be more patient, and understanding.

LOL @ the likes of Saban, Meyer, etc. dominating the CFB landscape if they had "the cloud" to deal with.

He would of been murdered on the Internet's by canes fans for that record. However, al golden is cut from the same cloth as Nick Saban. Both are builders and their teams this year will be better than their first year teams.

We were looking at real sanctions for Shapiro. Stuff that would have dismantled other football programs. But Al Golden stuck with Miami. We need to stick with Golden and trust the process.

Exactly! Both are builders! Saban won NCs in year 4 at LSU and year 3 at Bama while Golden has the same record in year 4 than in year 1. They are both building greats things!

To echo what has been said winning is ultimately more related to talent than coaching ability. To use the example of Saban, who is a better coach than Al Golden, Saban turned a 6-7 season into a recruiting class that included Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, Terrance Cody, Marcel Dareus, and Courtney Upshaw (touch that thang folk), the rest is a self-fulfilling cycle. We need this class to correct course.

Saban did not have a cloud or the type of negative recruitment that Golden has had to deal with. If Golden didn't get blindsided by the investigation, canes would of won the national title in 2013.
