We can lose the next 2 games, make the acc championship game, and win that and be automatically in.

There is even a realistic scenario where we lost to Notre Dame and 2 ACC games and still get into the ACC championship game which we would just have to win to get into the playoffs.

Not sure why you think we can only lose 1 game here on out. That simply isn't true to reach all of our goals
 
If there's anything positive we can get out of this is that it happened so early in the week where we can alter the plan of attack. This team didn't react well when Mali was hurt during the Wake game.

Well, you're partly right. You've seen this offense which also seemed to be star struck with Mali. So, when he goes out during a game.... I believe the offense bogs down. Now we get two days to implement an offense that knows that Mali won't be there. Mensah is still the Heisman favorite. Cooper is still a back-to-back thousand-yard WR. And I think this is an opportunity for a supremely deep WR room to show its value. Curious to see what Jacobs does with the opportunity.

Right. I get trying to keep the morale up but we just lost our best player, the best player in the country. I don’t see how we pull it off @ notre dame, the rest of the acc games ok but any game vs a top team is just bleek if he’s not playing at at least close to 100%

We already were worrying about other stuff but now our best player? Smh

8 plays, 67 yards, FG - 1 target for Mali, 0 catches

So it’s not like this team is incapable of scoring points unless he scores them. Nobody is saying the offense is as good, that’s absurd. But we scored 24 points on UNC and in those 4 scoring drives, Mali caught 1 pass and had 1 run.

We can still score points on these dudes. If I’m Ash, I’m loading the box and making Mensah beat me without Mali. And if I’m Dawson, I’m looking at that and smiling. Get the backs involved in the throw game. Maybe this is a Pringle game where we can get him on linebackers. Get Lofton more involved on misdirection and get him slipped into the flats. Put Spafford and Jacobs on the field at the same time and run some verticals and see if they can run by somebody. We got plenty of playmakers and an experienced, poised, accurate QB who can get them the ball.

Mali is such a generational talent that he forces defense to dedicate a ton of resources towards stopping him. Even if he’s not getting the ball, he’s attracting a lot of attention on any given play, which is why our offense remains lethal when he doesn’t touch the ball. Take him out of the equation, and, suddenly, it’s a lot easier to prepare for us. We’ll see what happens, but this injury hurts us a lot.

Somewhat understandably I’ll accept that your response is an emotional one. Regardless if this week, Toney or not, if you can’t close well enough against Duke, VT, and BC you probably are not worthy of the playoffs.

Take a deep breath and see how this goes.

Big fan of Jimmy’s analogy of taking Jimmy’s and Joe’s over X’s and O’s. But…

He’s the alpha of this team and there’s a ton of cats who will have some extra juice given the adversity. It would be something if we played our best game of the season this week and got by ND. Add some insult to their cause.

You named a particular player (you are not the only one) and attributed blame to him, even if you think you didn't. When has it EVER been necessary to name the Miami player involved in a tackle that injured another Miami player? Go ahead and search his name and see how many jackals are giving him **** for "injuring" Malachi. It needs to stop.
