Surgery for Mali

Nobody is angry.

Plenty of people, though, are sick of mopes such as yourself.

Thank you for adding zero perspective, though. And I never said anything about his "performance on the field". I'm talking about the severity of the injury (of which you know nothing) and Malachi's personal ability to heal and handle pain (of which you know nothing).
Yes, it's an opinion board, but no body wants to hear their constant doom and gloom. Say stupid things and you're going to get clowned and beat down. Fvck the bleeding vjays.

Getting a top 4 seed and a bye would be nice. Based on the committees actions so far, 12-1 with an acc championship may not be enough if that loss is to ND.

How in the **** did he get hurt in practice?

That’s crazy. I know freak accidents happen on the field but they are not going full contact on Toney in practice are they?
I’m sure the defense is instructed to not tackle him, right?

Geez, I swear this program has the worst luck.
I’m just sick over this. We are so screwed.

Feel terrible for the young man. He was absolutely ballin this season. Get well soon Mali.

Hopefully, we have better luck next year and get us a good QB and fix this defense and try to make another run, b/c this season is OVER!

There’s no blessing in disguise.

This is devastating. And realistically ruins hope of winning the title.

I still think we can win the ACC. But the reason this team could do anything of offense was cuz ANY PLAY we needed he could make. TDs. Long third downs. Clutch catch. Everything.

Offense is going to have to drastically change. Run the ball. Use the tight ends. Longer drives.

It’s hard to change the entire offense when you had a cheat code all season.

I have hope. And anything can happen. But no team can survive losing a player like this that wants to win a title. It’s a harsh truth.

The offense is going to look different without Mali's gravity, but it can still be very good if we play with discipline and remain on schedule.

We still have a lot of playmakers and someone else may emerge in Mali's place.

So confirmed tightrope surgery. 4-6 weeks. Tua came back quick. But he’s a qb and mobility isn’t as important as it is for a slot receiver. Brock bowers came back quickly so there may be hope if the situation is comparable

I don’t know that it’s been confirmed anywhere that it’s actually tightrope surgery. Has it been confirmed? And when will his surgery be?

I don’t think anybody right now really knows when he’ll be back, except maybe Mali, his care team, and those people close to him.

Sure it could be in time for the playoffs, or maybe he’s out for the rest of the season. You never know with surgery, they might find even a small hairline fracture or something else going on that requires a longer recovery time.

At this point, I would not make any assumptions. Just about any outcomes are on the table right now based on the fact that we really don’t know.

Except each human is different, whats their age, how they recover, the intensity and vigor they rehab, the quality of the doctors, the quality of the machines to assist in recovery etc.

The avg joe thats 20lbs overweight that goes to rehab 2x a week for 45min and then does nothing else. Doesnt have access to specialized machines, blood therapy etc. To say its going to be X amount if time is dumb. Just let it play out. Whether you believe 6 weeks or 4 or 8 makes no difference in reality.

Generally agree here, but is 'the average joe...' going to get this type of procedure? Or is it reserved mostly for athletes?

He's been in the tent every single game going back a long time. I don't think he got "hurt" in practice. I think it just eventually caused something more severe.
Reports indicate he stepped on someone’s foot and twisted an already injured ankle. It’s football. **** happens. Unfortunately, it happened to the best player in the country but it’s not like we got a bunch of scrubs in the WR room.

Some athletes heal faster than others. Mali has had a couple instances where he came off the field limping fairly significantly only to return to the field and move around as normal. I would bet he is back on the field on the early side of the expectations. The hard part might be slowing him down from wanting to get back on the field too quickly. This ND game is an opportunity for some receivers to prove they are ready for Prime Time!🙌

How many of the positivity pumpers are going to turn into mopes after the first time a drive stalls on Saturday?

Half the people yelling about receivers needing to step up melt down every time we throw an incomplete pass haha.

As somebody with a good amount of ankle injuries playing sports, Im sure most know this, but every sprained ankle makes the next one much more likely in the short term. So the week in and week out tweaks and twists definitely lead to ankle weakness and more susceptibility to the next sprain being worse.

No idea, but the premise still holds unless you believe that this procedure is unlike any other medical procedure and has an absolute recovery time. The facts are, he is 18-19, in peak physical condition, with the best medical facilities, Dr's, trainers and equipment can buy. Coupled with a kid that has an immense desire and dedication.

So no, I push back that there is some absolute standard recovery time that regardless of the patient , its always the same.

This doesnt even get into the severity of the injury. We have no idea how his compares to someone else even if its the "same injury"

It has.

Athletes. The average Joe can afford to sit Ina. Boot and rehab. This avoids that. It’s designed to return within 30 days

Just saw the article that was posted here. But I haven’t seen any official confirmation, if it’s out there then I just missed it.

I’m just going to assume that the article that was posted here was based on the correct information, which means that it is tightrope surgery, and that it’s happening today.

At some point post surgery, and it may be days not the day of, we will probably get a better idea of when he could possibly be back, but I still think numerous outcomes are possible here.
