Surgery for Mali

After reading this thread, it’s abundantly clear that some of you are absolute p.u.s.s.i.e.s. in your daily life, are c.u.c.k.e.d by your wives and were raised by your mothers.

“Seasons over”

Get on this train, or stay the **** off.

Hurricanes ride or die. 🟧🙌🟩
I know Tuesday night has you upset. It's okay. No need to lash out at everyone over that mess.
Nobody is happy about it. But if you think I’m gonna mail it in and say “better luck next year”, you obviously don’t know me. Anyone who’s doing that today seems to have forgotten the 20+ years of absolute dog **** that was this football program. This is easily the best season we’ve had since 2002, so I will continue to soak it in and enjoy every second of it.

Rest of you can cry harder.

The doctors said before the surgery WORST case scenario is 6 weeks. 4 is BEST. So back for CFP in the WORST case. Ideally we beat ND so we don’t need to rush him back for ACCG. And of course this is assuming the surgery went well. But we aren’t at end of world scenario just yet. There is little talk about beyond 6 weeks like 10 weeks etc… A literal worst worst case scenario seems to be 6.

Just saw the article that was posted here. But I haven’t seen any official confirmation, if it’s out there then I just missed it.

I’m just going to assume that the article that was posted here was based on the correct information, which means that it is tightrope surgery, and that it’s happening today.

At some point post surgery, and it may be days not the day of, we will probably get a better idea of when he could possibly be back, but I still think numerous outcomes are possible here.
Happened already. The news was sent out after everything was done.

Some athletes heal faster than others. Mali has had a couple instances where he came off the field limping fairly significantly only to return to the field and move around as normal. I would bet he is back on the field on the early side of the expectations. The hard part might be slowing him down from wanting to get back on the field too quickly. This ND game is an opportunity for some receivers to prove they are ready for Prime Time!🙌
Would love to get an extended look at Spafford with the 1s.

I think people saying he will be back for the ACC title game are hopeful. But uninformed.
My only concern here is… he’s been dealing with this all year…. It seems like the injury has been mismanaged which has led to him now needing surgery. Now we talking about how fast we can rush him back out here

Mali is such a generational talent that he forces defense to dedicate a ton of resources towards stopping him. Even if he’s not getting the ball, he’s attracting a lot of attention on any given play, which is why our offense remains lethal when he doesn’t touch the ball. Take him out of the equation, and, suddenly, it’s a lot easier to prepare for us. We’ll see what happens, but this injury hurts us a lot.
Mali is so good, ND is going to double cover him on the sidelines not even dressed out.

Now, can Dawson scheme something in the lab to counter this exotic package?

No idea, but the premise still holds unless you believe that this procedure is unlike any other medical procedure and has an absolute recovery time. The facts are, he is 18-19, in peak physical condition, with the best medical facilities, Dr's, trainers and equipment can buy. Coupled with a kid that has an immense desire and dedication.

So no, I push back that there is some absolute standard recovery time that regardless of the patient , its always the same.

This doesnt even get into the severity of the injury. We have no idea how his compares to someone else even if its the "same injury"

The reported diagnosis is a high ankle sprain. So I would venture to guess surgical intervention (and associated risk) is reserved for athletes. Thus, recovery speculation should be based on a specific cohort of high-functioning individuals and not sedentary lay folk.

Well there goes the season. Anyone saying different is just coping.
I’ve seen this offense without Toney and it is not very good.
Add in this crappy pass defense and it’s a wrap.
Hopefully we get a decent QB and make a run next year.
Right. I get trying to keep the morale up but we just lost our best player, the best player in the country. I don’t see how we pull it off @ notre dame, the rest of the acc games ok but any game vs a top team is just bleek if he’s not playing at at least close to 100%

We already were worrying about other stuff but now our best player? Smh
Honestly, I’ve pretty much written the ND game off, and we’re still good with a loss to ND. So, that’s not my biggest concern.
My concern is the rest of the ACC schedule.
Mostly VT and of course the ACC title game assuming we even make that.
Then will Mali really be back after 4 to 6 weeks and will he be the same player? Nobody really knows.
We are not winning any playoff if games without him.

Didn’t need surgery. The surgery in this option gets him back quicker. Rehab and a boot would take longer

He will be back closer to 4 than 6
