Somebody please get this worthless **** out of my face. In his post game presser someone asked Diaz if he thought about letting FSU score and Diaz says that it was a discussion he had with the staff. A discussion? Diaz then goes on to say that it was a weird situation and that FSU had an urgency to score so that factored into his decision. They had an urgency to score? Factor in his decision? I'm telling you this dude is literally clueless. How can a football coach at this level be so completely lacking in the fundamental understanding of the game he coaches?

Obviously I wasn't done venting about the most idiotic coaching decision of all time.

Smartest man in the room mentality strikes again. Pull all faith into HIS defense - when it's ranked in the 100s and not the offense that has actually carried the team to almost save him the job - and that mentality ended it for him. He bet on himself as the DC, doubled down electing to put the game on his defense, and it's time to reap what you sow.

Allowing them to score and holding 2 timeouts to give your offense a chance at least shows he thinks ahead (similar to Aranda kicking a FG thinking about the tie-breaker in the Big 12 championship). Might not have worked.. actually most likely wouldn't have worked but it was the better play.

50 seconds and 2 timeouts and needing to gain about 40 yards to kick a FG if you start the drive at the 25 or stop someone, averaging over 5 YPC on the season, at the goal line 4 times in a row from gaining about 1 foot.

It was just a conceited decision.

Dont forget he let the clock run about 10 seconds before deciding the call the first timeout.

That didn't really bother me. He had already made up his mind it was goal line stand instead of get your offense back out there to win it or tie it with a FG.

Had he waited 10 seconds to call that timeout, then let them score and put the offense back out there.. I would have been really ****ed. He just made the wrong decision.

The 4th and 14 and our players not knowing depth and covering the sticks and basic zone defense was the real mistake though.
