Super Regional Game 3: Louisville

Regardless of how you feel, this was a special group of men I had the honor of sharing the field with and the pleasure of being able to cover all year. The standard for UM has been and always will be Omaha. These guys gave it their all and some to follow through on that standard despite no one expecting them to succeed whatsoever. The character of this team is undeniable and fought well beyond their means.

As always, Go Canes!

I will not hate this team, which is an improvement. I might even like them.

My hope is that each year JD improves on his decisions and feel for the games. Just learn and grow. He seems to be a leader they want to play for, so that's step one.

Next two steps are review and overhaul the portal process.

Then learn and grow your "feel" for the games. Pitchers needed to be pulled a batter too soon rather than too late in a game like this. Defenders needed to be in most likely to prevent a single run positions, rather than most likely to prevent big inning spots. Renzo needed to be pinch hit for in a huge leverage spot.

Easy to say now. No doubt about it. That's why managing is tough. The people complaining have the actual results after the fact and you don't. But that's the job and the expectation is that you'll get these things right more often than not.

Just learn and grow, JD. Just learn and grow.
Improved talent acquisition can cover a lot of holes while he improves the rest of his managing skillset.

I'm still not a believer in JD long term but i can be converted this offseason

Can't even be mad about today. Thought the team played well overall and caught some unlucky breaks. Ogden smacked two balls that are probably gone in either of the two previous days. The team was making good contact throughout the day, much better than Louisville did, everything was just staying up and dying.

I still don't think JD is the guy even after this run, but he didn't really do anything today that cost the team.

Next year will be very interesting. He needs to recruit much better than he has to this point.

Nice surprising run. Got lucky with a weakish path but they took care of business last week and close to doing it again. They can’t control who is in front of them. Just ran into a team on more of a mission or wanted it more I suppose.

We know he’s not going anywhere so hoping he gets better and gets more talent. Host regional host and trip to the supers next year should be the expectation next year since it was all his corching that brought us here.

I would. I would have fired Boone (or not extended him), after the World Series (god knows the Boss would have fired him way before that). When you lose at the end, the way you lost all season, it is a pattern.

It was fun to see Miami play this far, but we are not a Cinderella school, let’s be a blue blood again.
If you keep JD you have to pay up. NIL must be top 5 in the country.

Let’s be real, he’s a glorified gym teacher. Kids like him and like playing for him, but he will never make the decision that will win you the game, but his inaction will cost you multiple games.

I really wish we’d shut down all the young arms get them with Soto then ramp back up in August. DeRias and Ciscar aren’t learning anything in summer ball. Bad habits can form too.
