Super Regional Game 3: Louisville

Playing that kid deep bit us in the ***. I get why you do it but if Torres was at normal depth he makes that catch.

Team was game and just came up short.

I’m certainly not alone with this thought, but despite this teams run, JD is not the guy. We also all know he’s not going anywhere.

Next year should be interesting.

Heck of a gritty pitching performance. Just didn’t enough hit or execute in the right spots. Can’t say this group of players didn’t exceed expectations though.
Most teams in supers have 2-4 guys over .300 in the bottom 5 of the order. We have 3 over .250 from 4-9 (not counting D Will)

Edit: I realize this was not in direct response to your statement, but more a brain-numbed stream of conscious belch that became vomit in the text box.

Credit where due. The character of the kids showed. I think we are still coaching deficient, and need more roster depth. They overachieved in Regionals and Supers.

The good *and* bad news is this gives JD more time to build off of this run. I don’t think he’s ultimately the guy to take us back to Omaha and to a title. I’ve consistently said this. But again…credit where due to this team for fighting and not just packing it in when things looked bleak.

Good season, get some pieces in the offseason and we’ll be back. Good start so far with the 1B from FIU, needed more power

They were two runs away from Omaha with a roster that was middle of the pack in their conference
He’s the reason this team isn’t going to Omaha. 3 critical errors he and his staff were responsible for.

Winning the regional was on the players. He made it tougher than it should have been. It’s been 30 years and he still doesn’t know how to handle a pitching staff and makes changes in game.

The pitching staff is below average. Who’s fault is that? The roster as a whole is average. Who’s been here 30 years?

That double play with bases loaded and the center fielder camping out along the fence was a nightmare
My hope is that each year JD improves on his decisions and feel for the games. Just learn and grow. He seems to be a leader they want to play for, so that's step one.

Next two steps are review and overhaul the portal process. Then learn and grow your "feel" for the games. Pitchers needed to be pulled a batter too soon rather than too late in a game like this. Defenders needed to be in most likely to prevent a single run positions, rather than most likely to prevent big inning spots. Renzo needed to be pinch hit for in a huge leverage spot.

Easy to say now. No doubt about it. That's why managing is tough. The people complaining have the actual results after the fact and you don't. But that's the job and the expectation is that you'll get these things right more often than not.

Just learn and grow, JD. Just learn and grow.

I would. I would have fired Boone (or not extended him), after the World Series (god knows the Boss would have fired him way before that). When you lose at the end, the way you lost all season, it is a pattern.

It was fun to see Miami play this far, but we are not a Cinderella school, let’s be a blue blood again.
