I'd love to know the analysis behind why Chris Nee says we need to get bigger at LB. Is there an actual football reason for why college LBs who are asked to play in space more than ever need to be bigger than what our guys are now?
Just taking a **** out his mouth as usual. We need to get back to faster than you Miami. We'll find zillion a players to fit what we do. Packing pounds on 6' LBs is not a good strategy. Evidence....look at our team. A guy like Grace shouldn't be more than 230 when he leaves Miami. No D will sure try to have him at 260. Sluggish and slow

Recruiting nerds should never talk about scheme. Most of these guys just made asses of themselves.

Chris Nee in particular in regards to McCord. Michigan State, an elite defensive squad who runs the classic Miami 4-3, has two starting DEs at 250, and 240. MCord is 248. These guys are ******* retarded if they think it's anything but the coaches that is the issue.

This whole article says a lot of nothing to conclude what we all know: Al Golden sucks

At this point it's a self-perpetuating problem.

Our lack of success on defense because of scheme combined with being known for a lack of player development will hamper recruiting.

Ironic, Golden's crappy coaching made its own cloud.

The sad thing is that the 2015 class is loaded with undersized ballers who can really run. Roderick Archer, Bruce Davis, and Adrienne Talan all fit the bill.

While at Temple, Golden out recruited the other schools in his conference and never won it. Folden does not maximize talent as a coach. As a matter of fact he makes talent play worse.

All you need to know is Duke's staff would have us winning the coastal every year with the talent we have now.

My thought exactly. Our guys are more than big enough, and our talent is certainly at a level to field a competent, if not top 25 defense. This passive scheme is just sickening.

Golden has made the conversion. We are a mediocre Big10 team - e.g. Purdue or Indiana. It's pathetic. And he truly considers that successful. It's akin to PSU, which used to be a top 15 program until joining the Big10 and plodding along with 2 - 4 losses every year.

Exactly. How can they not realize that no stud DT wants to play in this passive, crap scheme?!

Miami could have a starting 11 on defense composed of entirely "5 star" players and the defense would still under achieve. Having all the talent in the world doesn't mean anything if the coaches cannot put them in a position to succeed.

Furthermore, who would want a coaching staff that can only win by out-talenting its opponents because at some point you will run up against a team of equal or almost equal talent and then what?

I'm tired of reading these talent excuses. Even if there was a talent deficiency, why not scheme around it? Why not devise schemes that work for the personnel that is on the roster? I know these things have been discussed ad nauseum but it is just so frustrating to continue to read this garbage.

Kirby is all conference under coaches like Mullen, Stoops, Butch, Kelly, Fisher, Saban, etc he has the talent, size, and speed.

Stir the pot is an understatement.....that's why people call him Barry Jackazz.

Barry loves to stir the pot but I've never heard him ask a difficult question during a presser. The media down here is just as soft as this coaching staff

I love he mentions the scouts say we have a lack of talent without stating anything about the development of that talent. The article itself does mention it, but if those scouts are seriously not questioning how the talent is developed, I'd be interested to see what team they are scouts for.

I want to make it clear that i agree with 99% of the article but your wrong about McCord. It's not as simple as he weights the same as MSU D ends so he can stop the run like them. He isn't stout enough against the run to be a every down 4-3 end. He's a pass rushing specialist and even then his pass rush moves are limited. He would get absolutely eaten up trying to hold the edge.
