Recruiting nerds should never talk about scheme. Most of these guys just made asses of themselves.

Chris Nee in particular in regards to McCord. Michigan State, an elite defensive squad who runs the classic Miami 4-3, has two starting DEs at 250, and 240. MCord is 248. These guys are ****ing retarded if they think it's anything but the coaches that is the issue.

This whole article says a lot of nothing to conclude what we all know: Al Golden sucks

I want to make it clear that i agree with 99% of the article but your wrong about McCord. It's not as simple as he weights the same as MSU D ends so he can stop the run like them. He isn't stout enough against the run to be a every down 4-3 end. He's a pass rushing specialist and even then his pass rush moves are limited. He would get absolutely eaten up trying to hold the edge.

limited pass rush moves mean the staff is not working with him to develop them. 3rd year. no excuses.

Projekt:

How is it possible that two equal weighted kids have no trouble setting the edge at MSU?

Could it possibly be that instead of having to learn pattern-match zone coverage concepts, five different fronts, and essentially two different run-contain techniques, that they learn to a) set the edge b) blow up kick out blocks inside out c) rush the passer all out of ONE flexible front?

McCord would be a TERROR in East Lansing with that staff/system.

There's no support to trash Howard. The kid isnt fully developed yet as a player, but the on the field product that i've seen with my own eyes isn't as bad as people are making it seem. Even with the improvement needed against the run.. He's a true CB, who takes pride in his job in regards to covering WR's

The fact remains he hasn't gotten a high amount of balls thrown his way, and the catches against him are well defended. Leave the guy in the game and when he catches his grove, all he does is find a way to get INT's.

The reason why our secondary is ranked so high, is because of the lack of work in the form of passes; because its so easy to run against Dorito's defense.

No support to blame Howard for anything

Agreed.

OT: I still think Walford is a better blocker than you give him credit for. He handled Gregory, mano-mano.

Thursday night, to me, should be the referendum on Golden's tenure. A wounded team, with almost no offense to speak of, that can get run on if you commit to it, in a spot where we clearly outtalent them on paper. Should we not win, I wouldn't let him get to his car at MIA before handing him a pink slip.
