Sun Sentinnel " Civil War within Hecht"

You don't understand the point. The subcommittee (as it is currently constituted) does not have the power to do what people want it to do (hire/fire) without running everything past the full Board.

okay, but it's still just a recommendation. I agree Frenk is not as independent a thinker as Donna was, but if i'm reading the tea-leaves correctly the board is meeting "resistance" with trying to install Alonzo.

And there are plenty who do.

The BOT is just too big and bulky. At UM and at many universities.

We need to carve out a subcommittee to oversee athletics, and then let those 6 or 8 or 10 people take care of business without having 100 voices chiming in.

Without having much knowledge of the inner-working of the board at UM, this (in bold above) seems like a very good idea from a structural standpoint. The key will be to keep Donna's and Hillary Bass's cronies off of that committee.

Good sign that there are still people around who care about football and winning. Hang in there, fellas, and keep pounding the table.

If you really want to make a difference contact Cristobal and see what it’ll take to get him here then pony up for his buyout.

Otherwise, trying to cajole Fake Jimmy into being a competent AD by pounding tables and getting mad isn’t going to accomplish anything. Put your money where your mouths are, and hire a competent football AD and get the HC to turn it around and give him the resources he demands to do it.

You just suggested Christobal? After calling him Benedict Mario for how long and people telling you were a cheeseball when he clearly made a smart move going to Bama. That's rich.

Good. Fans don’t matter, but $$$ being pulled can make you feel like there’s something more than a finger probe during your prostate exam. I hope BJ has an ice pack and a tushy cushion big enough.

and this board thinks the BOT is the problem
Well, it’s not often that you hear from or about them. If your wife can’t explain the men’s cologne fragrance on her and her disheveled hair when she gets home later than bedtime and won’t tell you where she’s been, what are you going to think? No offense intended, just an analogy.

There isn't a need to hear from them. Message board users outlet is public posting. Our BOT can ***** directly to James or Frenk. It is no different then if you have an issue at work, you don't comment publicly about it, you handle it internally.

This is classic upper level management bull sht.
Slam your hands on the table and talk all that job job threatening bravado while not addressing the biggest issue that is the talent gap. Again we’ve fallen way short of the talent we have but are still way behind the playoff teams. So my question to the board would be “do you want 9-10 or 11-12 wins”?
Because while that might look like a simple numeric solution, it actually translates into another stratosphere of spending and rule bending that most might not feel comfortable with. The lashlee higher will likely get us to the 10 win mark. But those extra 2 wins means we’re playing and beating the big boys.
I’ll walk into the board room and play the YouTube videos of all the top teams and even the non top teams and their facilities tour and say bang your fists all you want but the best players go to these schools for a reason And banging your fists and threatening people’s jobs isn’t gonna make them come here.
And not ponying up the cash to have these facilities or staff sizes ain’t going to make any top tier coach want to come if you guys aren’t willing to spending in order get to that 12 win mark.

What? The BOT can't address the talent gap. But they CAN hold the people accountable who are responsible for that talent gap. Not sure what you want the BOT to do about recruiting.

I certainly do.

The fact that there is a "civil war" going on within the BOT tells me that roughly half of the BOT are the problem. When I see guys like Marcus Lemonis (sp?) tweeting after an embarrassing loss saying that "education is more important than winning," that tells me he is part of the problem. He is perpetuating the same false narrative about big time college athletics that donna and her ilk have perpetuated around Coral Gables since her arrival.
