Strong close

I think a key point is that right now all of the real programs are busy preparing for real bowl games. Golden and crew can sort of have their way with the market place for a few weeks. That said, once bowl season ends and all of the power program coaching staffs are on the street trying to finish strong themselves, THAT is when we find out strongly al will close.

Some here are saying he'll close strong, some are saying he'll lose guys like Williams, Scarlett and/or Bruce. We'll see.

I expect a strong close no reasons other things I read on here and Golden has got to do something right? Right?

Here's what Golden's going to do in the time between now and NSD...

- Fail to offer Jalen Julius and lose Dexter Williams in the process. A competent coach would offer Julius and hang onto Williams.
- Scowl when Scarlett and Bruce flip to FSU.
- Watch Tim Irvin commit to Texas or UF at the Army All-American Bowl, using a UM hat as a sideshow prop as he announces.
- Continue to fail miserably at recruiting DL and DBs.
- Continue to fail miserably at recruiting Dade and Broward.
- Throw out a few offers to recruits from the Northeast who aren't Miami-caliber athletes, just to **** us all off some more.
- Bring in a class that continues his trend of making us more like a Big 10 team by the day. Getting bigger and slower thanks to Golden.
- Miss on virtually every single late target in the next two months.

I want to be wrong very badly, but no one should have faith at this point that anything positive will happen to this program as long as Golden's still the coach here.

Every year we have 3-4 geniuses who want to offer a recruits friend/brother so that we get that recruit. If we did that 1-2 a year, we'd end up with a bunch of guys we don't want. Aside from the fact that someone should go back and determine if any of these guys actually panned out, let alone their friends.

True. I mean we never offer multiple guys a year who don't pan out.

True. I mean cause we are the only school that doesn't go 100% on all recruits

I would trade Joe Brown or Tyler Grimsley right now for Jalen Julius.

Start a thread purely by throwing **** against the wall and not backing it up with any real evidence or opinion.

Great job OP. Riveting stuff.

I expect another close with a whimper, because that's pretty much Golden's MO the last few years.

Jalen Julius is a Miami-caliber player regardless of what happens with Williams. The fact that he'd likely solidify Williams' commitment is just a bonus.

You talk about how we'd end up with a bunch of guys we don't want if we succumb to too many package deals, but Golden has thrown scholies at JAGs with very weak offer lists these past couple years with no hesitation. And there are several current commits in the 2015 class that are highly questionable takes. Julius sure as **** wouldn't be a questionable take.

Al. Posting on here again

Think about FSU prior to Winston or Louisville without Teddy... So, stop being a dumbass fan!

FSU won a BCS bowl before Winston, and extended it bowl win streak to 4 at the time. People keep their heads in the sand and just believed FSU was a perennial 4 loss team each year but they weren't paying attention. I wish we could string together to 9 win season at this point. Also Winston didn't beat us this, Jalen Ramsey and Dalvin Cook did....

Canefam. I wasn't taking a shot at you. Just making a joke. I hope we do close strong. Recruiting is always interesting.

I love how everybody thinks this is the first recruiting class without the "cloud" when we got our sanctions last October. That's four months without the "cloud" for the '14 class and El Foldo still lost Gibbons and Powell and did not gain one single commit

As opposed to Golden's 3* and lower pickups of Hunter Wells, Junior Alexis, Corey King, DeQuan Ivery, Jake O'Donnell, Gabe Terry, Nate Dorsch, Larry Hope, Danny Dillard, Vernon Davis, D'Mauri Jones, Jontavious Carter, Preston Dewey, Gray Crow, Jacoby Briscoe, Ray Lewis III, Joe Brown, Tyler Grimsley.

Moten committed because cloud was over

What is it that would lead anybody to think of Golden as better than below average recruiter???? But that's not his primary detriment, MUTHA****ER CAN'T COACH! He'll **** up this middle of the pack class just like his game day performances. Ok I get it he's coming back! But let's not pretend we expect anything more than another disappointment from him on the recruiting trail and gameday.

Here's the question. Is he a below average recruiter. Can evaluate talent. (A number on this forum believe he doesn't offer local miami caliber talent) or is it both or neither.

I thought we were in a dead period right now? If we are then, no program has an advantage / disadvantage because of bowl preparation.

You left out Thurston Armbrister, Walter Tucker, Olsen Pierre, Ufomba Kamalu, Herb Waters, Rashawn Scott, Taylor Gadbois, Rayshawn Jenkins, Ladarius Gunter, Courtel Jenkins, Antonio Crawford, Nick Linder, Juwon Young, Chris Herndon, Alex Gall, Gus Edwards.

Players don't turn out regardless of ratings for various reasons. The key is replacing them with better players and upgrading the roster which this staff has done over the past 4 years. A lot of the guys that you named left because they realized that they would never play here (Alexis, Dortch, Davis, Hope, Dillard, Briscoe, Lewis, Williams, Grimble), a few others were good talent but got in trouble (Terry, Carter, Ivery, Johnson, Finnie, Paul), a couple had injuries (Dewey, Witt), a few more are still on the team and may provide depth (Wells, King, Brown, Grimsley, Jones).
