still thousands of tickets for sale in upper deck end zones

This discussion ongoing since the internet had fan message boards. 5 N C,s should have been 7or 8. Should be enough said. Better attendance than probably 2/3rd$ of fbs schools with one of the smallest student bodies.

I've always been a conspiracy theorist. I whole heartedly believe that the powers that be in the ACC take special aim to hold us down as best they can.

In this scenario I believe the ACC scheduled VT and ND back to back at home knowing that the majority of the traveling UM fan base, if forced to choose, would plan to attend ND and pass on VT. This move in their minds could potentially result in lackluster attendance for the most important coastal game of the year. It was their best shot to make us look like **** and if we don't cram another few thousand in the seats wearing orange and green they may succeed.

I want to attend this game very much but I cannot because I have made plans to be at the game next week and my schedule doesn't allow me to travel down back to back weekends. I hope those of you on the fence go ahead and pull the trigger.

I don’t know if it’s an agenda or pure incompetence. With Miami, in the preseason, UNC and VT were the top tier competition for the Coastal. Why schedule those games back to back? You’re deliberately setting Miami up to fail. Spread the big games out.

Last year, we played at VT on a Thursday night (in the middle of the 4 game difficult stretch) again with no bye in the previous week. Why? Arguably the biggest game in the Coastal and you schedule it for a Thursday night game giving VT the advantage? Just plain stupid or corrupted.

We just don't pay attention to other teams and situations....but it happens to all the time to other schools.

IE:
Last year UNC had to play @FSU, VT, Miami on consecutive weekends......

This year VT has to play Miami and @GT the following week....So they have their 2 toughest division games back to back on the road.
NC State has to play @Notre Dame and Clemson back to back
Clemson had to play Auburn and @LVille back to back

Schedule sucks sometimes, sometimes it doesn't....don't believe in some conspiracy.

Instead of ing OP, why don't you buy a ticket and go!? I happened to buy two tickets yesterday for the upper stands. Don't matter where you sit just show up and support the team your a so called fan of. I did my part. You can get ticket availability down to 999

Because the selective photography and questionable (but always negative) memories sometime become tiresome to the fans that HAVE been going to games.....for years.

I'm not even blasting the guys I've been going back and forth with in this specific thread as their motives seem to simply be in wanting a full house on Saturday. But there are plenty of other people that constantly engage on this that are either fake fans and more of contrarians or just have less than pure motives.

Oh goody, more attendance threads.

If you're bringing up UM and attendance, you're either new around these parts or very, very dense.

If all our keyboard commandos attended these games and are as loud in person as they are banging away feverishly on their keyboards, we'd have the top home field advantage in the ACC.

I will do my part, you do your part, and the 5-10k empty seats don't really matter.

I don't think any one disagrees with you that the place can get loud. I think the issue is people want the city to get behind the team and sell out the stadium; it's a better look for the program.

And like it or not, it's used against UM in recruiting. Teams love to show photos of empty stadiums for Canes games, and I've heard this from several local coaches. It's a regular thing.

And it hasn't changed since the 1930s, yet, despite this glaring deficiency we have won 5 national championships to most of those schools 3, 2, 1 or 0. That's what we use against them for recruiting. We win.

I don't get why we must go over this for every, single, home, game!

Most of the City of Miami doesn't give a ihst about anything. There's about 50,000 of us that do, and we do our part. There's about 1,000 who travel in and do theirs. Then there's about 100,000 keyboard commandos who lecture us all about attendance but then watch the game on Facebook Live.

Again, the issue here isn't someone saying "We don't win because of poor attendance." We'd just like the city to start putting their butts in seats on Saturdays and get behind the team.

From a football standpoint its not so bad, we are getting our two toughest opponents at home in consecutive weeks towards the end of the year.

I just feel like they could have intentionally put VT the week before ND thinking it might limit the number of fans willing to travel for the game knowing ND is the following week. The ND game is the big draw but the VT game is far more important.

If the games were flip flopped the house would be stacked for the match up this week and with a win the atmosphere for VT would be off the richter, pun intended. I just feel like the people scheduling these games take into account the best way to tactfully f uck Miami when they finalize the sched.

The ACC is trying to put their biggest games in primetime as many times as possible.

So not incompetence, fella.

I'm certainly no fan of the All Carolina Conference's power structure but this conspiracy theory/claim of incompetence is a bit of a stretch. Real programs can fill stadiums in back to back weeks. And we will. That said, you can't hold it against someone that has to travel from out of state or something for having to choose only one of these games. It won't affect attendance this Sat though.

I disagree, I think it is better for UM that the games are scheduled the way they are. Much rather play the VT game first since it is a much more important game.

Playing the most important game of the year one week after playing ND would suck, total emotional letdown situation.

The real heart of the attendance problem lies with people like the following:

On twitter The State of the U retweeted a guy moving from Georgia to Miami. He wanted to know the best sports bars to go to in town to watch the Miami HOME games. "Lifetime fan"

I replied and said for the price of his meal and beers he could get tickets to the game and show up.

Until some of these "I'm only a fan when I can be in comfort" individuals face public ridicule and shame nothing will change. Either you down or you not.

What does primetime games have to do with scheduling big games back to back to back in some cases? If anything, it hurts the schools because you are setting them up for failure. For example, in 2016, ACC scheduled Miami vs. FSU, UNC, VT (Thursday night) and at ND. Miami went 0-4 in that time span. Why not spread those games out a bit to give Miami a little breathing room? Instead, the ACC put Miami in a position to fail and we lost 4 games in a row. Pure incompetence by the ACC, fella.

Notre Dame might be contractually obligated to play 5 ACC teams a year but I don't think putting them bacl-to-back with VT was a conspiracy.

Sorry to crumple your tinfoil hat.

The only "scheduled" loss was the road game at VT on Thursday night after a Saturday game.

The were no excuses for the others.
