Still a Stupid & Small Team

#1 the bowl games mean nothing...and EVERY player that gives a ****, knows that.

Bowls used to, but now they just dont.

The emotional fans need some ******* medicine.

Those that actually no something about the game, can see that were making a change.

Does anyone actually believe, that's what our Dline will like next year?

Does anyone actually believe that's what our secondary will look like next year?

What about the oline?

All signs (recruiting, redshirts, etc.), would lead one to believe we're heading in the right direction.

Calm down.
Nah bro your not getting it..this program was always one coach away from 10 win seasons..a better coach would give all our 2nd and 3rd string guys EX boost just from them being the coach..WR and DB would’ve gotten a automatic SXP boost in speed and accelerationand became game changers as well..but with Mario, the players get negative boosts..no matter the talent level of the team changing..Mario won’t win..he never one anything at Oregon..that was all Phil knight

I said ELITE..(which is what I thought we were getting when we went balls deep into a 80 million 10 yr contract with Mario). Not one team you named is in the CFP. FSU is the weakest/ luckiest 13 win team in the history of sports. This is my background, so I know what I’m looking at. In yr 2 our S&C/ nutrition program screams average at best. I get there are other factors that contribute to losing as well, I only made one observation.
For me, it’s the type of players they are working with. I’m not the biggest fan of our S & C, but they really haven’t had elite body types to work with…upper class men wise…then you have guys like Leonard Taylor who refused to eat what he was instructed to eat.

There were times this year that the team…particularly on defense ran out of gas. That could be due to lack of depth and mismanaged rotation or poor S & C. I remember under Feeley the team got better as the game went on and usually performed best in the fourth quarter…not so much the case right now

So we are too cool for school? The other team wasn’t. This is why we suck, we think we are cool but we are losers. Not caring that you lose on national tv, even in a meaningless game, is why we are soft.
Bro..the other team was down 1 guy in their starting 22..we were down multiple throughout the 2 deep. It’s not about “being too cool for school” the team we had did show up and played hard..Rutgers was the better team under that circumstance yesterday

How you do anything is how you do everything…perhaps you hadn’t heard.

I know you're a venting mopey, but we started Couch and Davis at Safety. Two small CB's. Markeith is a RS freshman that needs another 1-2 years of S&C. He mentioned Aguirre compared to Mauigoa, an upper class men to a freshman. We replaced Cohen and Lee with Cristobal and Rodriguez. We had to start a true freshman not named Bain at DE. Yea we looked smaller 100%.

When we have Justin Scott and Artavis Jones at 6'4 300 plus pounders rotating in at DT next year not Lichtenstein and Gore we will look different. Give Wesley and Aguire another year off S&C see what they look like next season.
You clowns calling people mopes caused us 20 years of misery.

Yes I understand this team was missing a-lot of guys but my overall takeaway from this game and season is that our HC, most of the Staff and team are still stupid when it comes gameday. And we look small all over the field. Examples:

  • Why is Lou Cristobal (5'11, 295) playing over McCoy, Kinsler, Tripp, Tinilau?
  • Jacolby George looked extremely unfocused (didn't make an effort on that first deep throw, dropping the reverse) and had numerous costly penalties
  • Playing Thomas Gore (5'11, 280) - Where is Horton, Moten? **** I'lI take Liechtenstein over gore
  • Our whole DB unit looked small. Markieth Williams is tiny frame wise. Why no burn for Richard, Robert Stafford to prepare for next year? We need a major influx of talent through the Portal since our DB coach can't recruit
  • Does any DB know how to take a good angle? On the TD run to the corner, both Williams and Damari Brown don't take the right angle and allowed the RB to get outside of them and to the corner instead of forcing him back to the inside towards there teammates and tacklers
  • Special Teams blunder, terrible halftime adjustments, etc.
I mean Mario is an excellent recruiter, there's no doubt about it. And he's going to have us stacked with talent. But his game-day coaching and team play on game-day is still Manny/bonehead level and will cost us multiple games a year IMO
whsipers manny Diaz was a better game day coach

No I'm reasonable. You moped all year on the recruiting board for us to sign the 4th best class in the country.

We are a 7 win program for past 18 years that never win bowl games, and people like you expected something different with so many key pieces out?

Mario will make this program better, but he isn't a quick fix coach. He is a program builder.

He took FIU from a 1 win team to an 8 win and co-conference champion. He took Oregon from a 7 win team to a 12 win team. He has a proven track record building rosters and culture. This program has been broken for a long time. This isn't an easy job with the culture he inherited.

So a mope is anyone expecting better than mid results. Got it thanks for clearing up that misconception. Hope that past success keeps you warm at night. Clutch that Pac-12 Championship close tonight.

No a mope is someone who is negative when the story isn't written yet. Just like you were crying and whining on the recruiting board in July and August, and now with Mario in year 2 with a depleted roster in a bowl game.

Miami will make another jump in wins next season, but if we lose one early I'm sure you will be moping away.

Everyone ****ting on Rutgers because you’re thinking Big East. Rutgers has been in the Big Ten and has to compete with Big OLines weekly. They were 6-6 coming into the Bowl game but 4 of those losses were against OSU, Michigan, Iowa, and Penn State. Michigan was 14-7 at half, Rutgers was winning 9-7 at half vs OSU, Iowa was 3-0 at half, and Penn State was 10-6. That shows that they’re getting close to being a Top 25 team

I know that I am not the only one, but Jacolby is my 2023 version of 2022 James Williams... someone with a lot of talent but has constant maturity issues and is not held accountable. James took a big step in 2023 and dramatically improved maturity in terms of not committing stupid personal fouls (still had some issues, but not nearly as bad).

With James I understood Mario continuing to play him b/c there really wasn't another option behind him, but I don't understand why he keeps letting Jacolby play after all of the boneheaded decisions he makes. The drop-off behind him is not nearly as bad as behind Williams was (and it is easier to deal with a drop-off at WR than Safety).

If Jacolby is still here next year, ideally he will get his act together and cut out the boneheaded decisions but if he is here and keeps doing dumb **** Mario has to bench him and let others play. You can't get instill discipline if you are making exceptions for certain players, particularly ones that aren't even all that good.

When can people have expectations? When is it ok to look at story written? Is it not ok to question if we lose to UF and/or USF

The excuses some of you guys make smh. I've been saying we have a S&C issue for a while. Our guys as a whole just do not look well-coordinated. Nyjalik for example looked athletic and nimble in the spring game, then looked slow and sloppy once the season started. Virtually every position on the field outside of the OL is small. The little freshman WR at UVA, Concepcion, is bigger than our entire room sans Horton lol. It always takes our guys "2-3 more years in the weight room" smh.

We'll see what happens in Year 3. I can see Mario's vision for the LOS but there are other aspects of the game that he and the staff have done a disservice to.

But his game-day coaching and team play on game-day is still Manny/bonehead level and will cost us multiple games a year IMO
To be honest I don't remember Manny's actual game day coaching being a concern. I could have blocked it out but I have never seen a more clueless person on the sideline when it comes to clock management and stupid decisions than Mario. I think every game this year he went into halftime with 2 timeouts and actively refuses to use timeouts when needed. Then, when Mario finally does use a timeout in the 2nd half it's always the dumbest thing ever.

I don't know if many people realize, but Rutgers was favored to win. Mostly due to us having a lineup full of backups. I'm not mad we lost I'm more so mad about the backups that we played. Cristobal at LG? We had better options. Gore at DT? We had better options. And Keontre Smith, our smallest linebacker, starting against a run heavy B1G team? I think these were horrible personnel decisions. Were we really trying to win, or trying to make some kids feel good before the roster purge?
