Stewart Mandel: Mark Richt invigorated by opportunity for a

I'm convinced by all the poor-mouthing. I hope we can win 7 this year and compete for 3rd in the Coastal. The teams we play have much greater talent than us, and we'll be fortunate to win 7. 8 would be a minor miracle.

You know what's funny? All of the chicken-littles who think there is no possible way we can win 10 this year are the same dudes who sucked Golden's ****, claiming every year that Golden was going to win big (with those same players).

Ialways thoughtAG didnt recruit enough talent, soi expected losses. I think whoever took over this jobhad to revamp everything including protecting elite sfla studs. If we can do that well be back if not same ****
Yeah, I'll concede that you have always been arguing talent and I'll also concede that you have always had a point, as far as our talent level being ELITE

You are flat-out wrong, however, when you argue that we don't have the talent to win the Coastal and 10 games, considering that there are only 2 teams on the schedule who have the elite roster that we can't quite compete with yet (FSU and ND).

When you look at the talent Miami has put into the NFL over the last 5 years it would indicate that talent is not that big of an issue. We had a roster full of playmakers who have actually produced a lot in the league not just get drafted and make no impact like other schools ... Coaching is the biggest reason Miami has sputtered for majority of the past 10 years. With that being said, times are changing especially now that we have legit coaches and elite talent in the most vital areas of the defense(DL, lb)and offense(qb, rb, te, wideout if you factor in the incoming recruiting class)

One of the first times that we probably ever have agreed on anything.

We put more players in the NFL last year than Alabama and FSU.

But guysm, because we don't have 10 first rounders on this roster, we can't expect to win the Coastal + 10 guysm.

"For the rest of college football, though, the adjustment period is only just beginning." **** right it is.

Is it just me or has Chise become very negative? I dont remember him posting so much non-sense

What in the quoted text is non-sense?

You're going to have to increase your sarcasm detector in order to read his posts. Otherwise, you're going to be confused A LOT.

I love when posters say we "can't compete" with FSU. Considering we had 4th quarter leads and almost beat them the past 2 years with, uh, Al Golden coaching.

It's one thing to be realistic, but saying we can't beat FSU this year is just a joke.

If we can stay healthy I'll take my chances with squad '16. We have enough front-line talent to be dangerous. And by dangerous I don't mean 7 or 8 wins. FOOH with the ant-Cane's low expectations. His max was 9, so I expect more than that from a real, professional coach. Even in year 1.

Richt and company have the accountability bar pretty high by calling out players and all. That's cool. Mash gas, coach. At the end of the day, however, coaching will be the determining factor as to how many games we win. I have faith in Richt's offensive system, especially if it is centered around curl/flat combo. He can save the 'Gawga' shallow cross mesh for when we're inside the 20s. Otherwise, between the 20s, fast-break all day (flat/curl/corner/dig/post/streak).

As for Manny, his defense must stop the run first and foremost. It will be interesting to watch how effective those zone fires are against the run. I think Kaaya mentioned recently something about 'strong scrape' with cover-3 behind it. Overloading is good if you guess right. If you guess wrong, well, whatever. Accountability applies to Manny too. So yeah, Diaz's talk game is refreshing, but nobody will buying the verbiage if his defense can't stop the run and get off the field. Thankfully, Diaz has a great understanding of traditional Miami defense. He knows formula. If his unit is on point, we roll. Just gotta stay healthy.

I believe the "posters" said that we can't compete with their roster, which is true. Their depth and talent level is clearly superior.

That's not the same statement as "we can't beat FSU this year."

Fsu should have blown them out last year. Go back and watch that game. **** was getting ugly but fsu kept making mistakes and couldn't put it away early.

Kaaya getting hot is what gave them a 1 point lead in the 4th and saved them from being embarrassed.

Go look at the 2014 game vs fsu. Miami led in every statistical category **** near and still lost.

Part truth and part motivation.

these guys also have MUCH higher standards than the last circle jerk. They've knocked heads with the elites for years.

We should have enough to be in the ACC championship game.
Maybe what Richt and Diaz are referring to is the talent to contend for national championships. JMO

What monster schedule is everyone looking at that shouldn't be a 10 win season for this team? Miami talent + **** good coaching staff = ACC pain for now and straight beat downs for years to come.

Two quotes stood out to me:

1. Richt - "We do have some guys that can play; we just don't have a lot of them."

2. Diaz - "We've been trying to push our kids to determine whether they're good enough to be at Miami. Some of them are, and my suspicion is some of them are not."

He was talking specifically about receivers on that quote....

Just listened to the podcast, richt was talking about explosive players around kaaya only...

The first month alone you are gonna have 3 wins. Much better coaching staff and people still think 6-7 wins? With pretty much the entire team coming back off an 8 win season with WOAT coaches?

Predicting 8 or less wins makes no sense whatsoever. Why did we even fire Golden then?

Guys I highly recommend you look up Bruce Feldman and Stuart Mandels podcast on this interview and our program. Eye opening to say the least about where these guys see us and where they think our coaches see us. I'll link to it later when I get a chance. It's called the audible and Bruce Feldman posted it on Twitter. A good 30 minutes or so of Miami stuff including the entire richt interview.
