Stevenson Tears.... Of Joy????

Campbell & Surtain were coming too. Stevenson is not coming. We don’t get these kids anymore because we do not pay up. Get it through your brains already.

Campbell recruitment was more like Evan Neal’s. And we had zero shot for Surtain till the last hour(and we didn’t really have a shot). Just because they are secondary players doesn’t make it the same recruitment. We can win this battle just like we won the mark popes, gurvan halls, Brevin Jordan’s, Gilbert friersons, etc. I’m not saying we get him but we are actually in it and kid has declared it is down to us and UGA where we didn’t really have a shot for Campbell and surtain except for this board assuming bull****

We gave up over 220 in the first half against an LSU offense that has been anemic for years now. They did whatever they wanted on key downs against us in that first half.
Didn’t their RB have like a 75 yard TD run ? Take that run away and that leaves about 150 yards of offense, not exactly doing whatever they wanted . With the way the offense kept going 3 and out, our punter shanking 3 punts in a row and our D being on the field way too much , I think the D played very well . Our offense did us no favors

Agreed. Pretty clear we have to land kids early. The longer the recruitments drag on the worse our chances get.

No question about it.

Miami needs kids that will sign early and shut it down at the time of commitment.

No question that will cost us kids, but the net results will be better because we will move on a lot faster.

Now, we take a commitment and hang on, so when we get shafted we're scrambling and dumping offers out of airplanes.

The Tyson Campbell situation should have sobered a lot of people up. He was a “lock” when we were getting that flood of commitments. Matter of time blah blah blah. To me it felt like if he was going to commit he would have done it.

Bottom line is we still are a backup plan to many elite kids. We will always be in the conversation but how many more times do we need to be clowned by guys we’ve been recruiting forever (and fans think we are going to get) before it sinks in how much we get played?

Like you said of course it’s not a blanket statement but the **** happens like clockwork around here. It speak to the “if you are Miami, you know it” mentality.

Brevin Jordan mentioned it in his Instagram live Bubba Bolden

Man I was sitting here thinking, "if a school is dumb enough to send this kid money via a wire transfer, then we should be happy instead of worried." LMAO I was totally in another world on that one!

Hindsight is 20/20 but TC was never a “lock” at any point. TS may end up at UGA but their recruitments have not gone the same at all. I don’t disagree with most everything else you said. We do get played a lot, but personally, I choose to keep hope alive that will we land some of these guys no matter how it plays out.

I gotta believe that we land the kid who loves Miami, especially after Mom allegedly signed off on him coming here. If we can't get the stars who want to be here, then what's the point?

I responded to this in another thread. Stevenson not signing would be a surprise because he was thought to be an early entrant. If he really didn't sign by Dec. 21 then enrolling early is out unless he signs a non-binding grant-aid agreement. Maybe he took that extra step to keep everything quiet which is what Hazelwood considered doing too. We just didn't hear that about Stevenson though.

Maybe your buddy was instructed to not give anything away involving Stevenson and he followed orders. Would be a pleasant surprise.
That’s always a possibility as well. I would love for that to be the case. It’s just so hard to keep secrets in this industry and this would have to be the most well-kept secret in a while.

It was 50, but in what world are we taking that away? It happened, and it was a quintessential example of an OC outscheming an DC which is basically my point. As stated Diaz, was a decent DC, nothing more nothing less. He isn’t some irreplaceable coach many on here are making him out to be. He had flaws but to his credit he did adjust fairly well but this adjustment per usual vaulted him in the eyes of many to the point of hysteria on this site. Now our bigger issue is that his replacement are two guys that probably shouldn’t be DCs here, but that’s another discussion.

The semester surely starts after the 5th. Could he no do that Finacial agreement and still enroll in spring? Not sure how it works

I am of the understanding that he could do financial aid agreements and still enroll in spring.

Regular students manage to get in last second all the time, I’m sure there’s room for a game changing, revenue earning football player.

I disagree about we don't get these kids anymore.. porsters like jdgacanes have losers mindsights and I get that. I've been following miami recruiting since like 1994 and I won't date myself but I'm under 40. I just know we get some and we lose most. I also know if we had coaches who develop more with less mentality this wouldn't even be a point of discussion. However; it is the day after Christmas and most of you aren't grateful for the air you breath let alone the ability to make decisions autonomously. Lol I just want coaches to develop the talent on a more consistent basis that is it.

It wasn't a case of outscheming though, it was a case of a blown assignment by the safety, Knowles.

Ok so 170 yards, still not exactly doing what they wanted . And I wouldn’t call that play being outschemed, Knowles literally took himself out of that play for no good reason if you go back and watch the run . He gave up that play period. I’m not arguing Diaz is some irreplaceable elite DC, just that LSU didn’t trash our defense like you were indicating .

Banda and Patke being promoted DC may or may not work out but that’s just another symptom of the problem which is Richt himself

I may be misremembering, but weren't there a lot of really bad substitutions in that game, were the we had only 2-3 starters in the game on some plays? I blame the defensive performance on that (which was a coaching decision, but not really a scheme thing), combined with really bad field position. Bandy's targeting call didn't help.

Dee even posted about it, it was because we had Jennings and Knowles there and Burrows saw pre snap what we were doing, audibled and we got trapped. It was 100% getting outschemed, tipping our hand pre snap and having weak links in, and they attacked it. That is the definition of getting outachemed.
