Step Into My Dream: 2015 'Canes Defense

And who will be coaching all these fine athletes?

The guy whose **** you will be sucking at this time next year.

Al Golden.

Lol.

Golden is not a very good coach, so after another 9-3 season, I will probably not be sucking anything of his.

are you implying that if we were to finish better than 9-3 next year, that you would actually entertain the idea of sucking something on Al Golden?

Look, I'm excited about all these guys too.

But then I remember our scheme and our clueless (when it comes to defense) coach and defensive coordinator. And then I cry.

Do you realize how easy it would be to fix our scheme? I think it's coming too! No more (R&R) on the DL! The personnel we are recruiting is for a penetrating defense to get up field.

At the very least, if this team strings together a couple of 10 win seasons back-to-back, will anyone be disappointed? I'd love to see 10-14 wins every year. That's 'canes football.

Seriously, are you going to attach that commentary in every **** thread no matter the subject matter? It's f*cking annoying as ****. OP is happy about us stacking some chips. I am as well. The thread is about the talent and depth chart, not coaches or schemes. We don't need your mopey *** slights in every thread about Miami football.

Yes....he's the biggest ****tard on this board.

Golden and D'Onofrio have had success running this defense before. Things might not work out here, but at the very least there is evidence that it works, so it's not impossible for them to turn things around.

Here's hoping they do.

The MAC is a much different beast than the ACC, and even there, it wasn't otherworldly, just decent.

the point is that there aren't any "Shayon Green's, Kacy Rodgers, AJ Highsmith's, Jimmy Gaines'" in that mix. Our current D has major drop offs from position to position and this "dream" above closes the gaps.

and how would we know that?

a lot of the players listed above haven't played meaningful snaps here.

for all you know they can be the next Forston's, Streeter's, and Futch's.

A top 20 finish on defense is better than decent.

And what does it matter that it was the MAC? Gus Malzahn has killing people with his offense since high school.

It's all about getting players to execute properly. Right now the coaches aren't doing that (and that's their fault), but I don't think it's because they're idiots who are dazzled by all of the genius coaches in the ACC.

The difference is we're bringing in plus athletes. We're not bringing in a bunch of overmatched guys. That doesn't mean they'll all work out. Some will inevitably bust, but we're bringing in a lot of consensus studs.

You can play that read and react BS with 5th year seniors and big slow guys in the MAC and it can work. It can't in the ACC.

God only knows what (competent) SEC offenses would be doing to us.

Saban runs a two-gap scheme in the SEC. He's been doing it since his L$U days. It can work.

Now I don't think we should be two-gapping personally, but I don't really care what we run so long as it works.

Golden is a smart guy. He knows he can't allow his defense to continue to get shredded for 500 yards. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more slanting next year; contrary to popular belief, we didn't two-gap exclusively.

Saban also has 5 stars at almost every position.

And I hope you're right, we saw some slanting in the final game vs UVA.
