Next year it’ll flip back to home grown QBs
Next year probably mostly non portal guys, but the following year seems like it'll likely go back to mostly portal guys.
Definitely 2026:
Drew Allar - Home Grown 5 star (32 Composite)
Cade Klubnik - Home Grown 5 star (6 Composite)
Garret Nussmeier - Home Grown 4 Star (84 Composite)
Carson Beck - Portal from UGA (254 Composite)
Miller Moss - Portal from USC (76 Composite)
Possibly 2026, More likely 2027:
Arch Manning - Home Grown 5 star (1 Composite)
Sam Leavitt - Portal from MSU (311 Composite)
LaNorris Sellers - Home Grown 4 Star (256 Composite)
John Mateer - Portal from WSU (1,766 Composite)
Nico Iamaleava - Portal from UTenn (3 Composite)
Dante Moore - Portal from UCLA (4 Composite)
Aidan Chiles - Portal from OSU (168 Composite)
2027 At the Earliest:
DJ Lagway - Home Grown 5 star (7 Composite)
Jackson Arnold - Portal from OU (8 Composite)
.....
But see the trend, with the home grown guy, it basically better be a 5 star that plays ASAP. Manning is pretty unique case. Most 5star prospects aren't doing what he did sitting 2 seasons. Most of these other 5 star Qbs end up playing year 1 or at worst go into year 1 with like a senior with expectations they're the dude year 2. This is why I have always said there is almost no point in getting mid to really high 4star Qbs. Go all in for the 5 star prospect, or hit the portal for the starter. Now yes Ideally you get a 2-yr guys out of the portal. But Regardless yearly we need to be taking high 3star/low 4star type talents that will be okay sitting 2 years as depth/development. Otherwise you'll have no depth.
Just either we get 1 of those guys and 1 5star Qb, or 1 of those guys and 1 portal Qb. That's just how it should be for the most important postion. We need to take 2 QBs yearly no matter what with 105 roster spots.
