Stadium

RIDICULOUS that we don't have our own stadium. We are the ONLY division 1 school that doesn't....other than Pitt....and frankly it tells you all you need to know about this clown show athletic department and the blood sucking maggots that make up our BOT

USF plays at the Big Sombrero or whatever they call the Buc's stadium. The city of CG will not sign off on a stadium to be built even if they had they space. The only viable spot would be Tropical Park.

UM doesn't have half the athletics donors that TCU or Baylor have.

Not true Miami has the same number of boosters if not more than both of those schools. The difference is those boosters are much more committed to their respective programs. They understand the importance of football in Texas culture and the ability to build the brand by competing in football.

For example it took only 34 TCU boosters to raise 105 million in 18 months when Amon G Carter needed upgrades. See the link below.

TCU announces $105 million renovation of football stadium

Regardless of whether it's a matter of the number of donors or the amount those donors are willing to give, the point remains that UM does not have a donor base that supports football in the same way that they do at many other programs, including Baylor and TCU. Nealy all of UM's money issues can be traced back to this. Folks love to ***** about the admin, but the fact is that we simply don't have the donor support that other schools do.

They need to get with Beckham and put it over there in little Havana. Have some of the seats retractable for when they play soccer games. 45K is ok. I dont see how we move forward in any other way.

Another option is a stadium share with FIU. They are a public school, which means, govt money.

They could've just renovated the OB [emoji47]

Yessir they could have. Lil Donna walked away from that plan and lied publicly about it. She said it would have "unfairly burdened" the Miami-Dade taxpayer. Nothing like a liberal politician drawing that line THEN. Surrrrrre, Donna. Surrrrrrre. At best, the Donna slurpers should admit that even if they took her word on that justification at the time that she failed a leader of a freakin' private university by NOT taking advantage of the taxpayer.

This is what I don't get about the people who run Miami....

They care about money, however, they don't spend any to make any.

Folks wouldn't even know who Miami was w/o the vaunted history of the football program. Like USC (the real one), Miami is a private school. Expect USC know exactly where their bread and butter comes from, the football program. Therefore, they do everything in their power to make sure it's on the up and up including having a stadium they could call their own, in the Coliseum. When the city of Los Angeles was thinking about turning the Coliseum into a Museum after the Raiders bounced, USC stepped in, put in the necessary money to get it rehabbed and the rest is history.

Are we even making money from renting from SLS? I don't see why this admin can't see the bigger picture as in investing in our own stadium and w/in several years, make that money back and keep it flourishing. They could make a bid for concerts and other ventures, and all of the money would go to us. I don't get them, at all.

That is how they would do it. UM has zero vision for its Athletic Department, none. This could have been done if they had some vision. The cost of walking away from Sunlife should not have been a deal breaker.

Do you guys enjoy just making **** up?

She agreed to spend 50mil of UM's money to help renovate the OB, if I recall correctly. Remember the whole side-by-side OB/marlins stadium thing that would've been a winner for everyone, all around? The city bailed on that plan, just as they bailed on **** near every plan put before them. They wanted to get rid of the OB from the get-go, and UM couldn't do a **** thing about it.

Without re-configuring and rebuilding part of the campus there is not enough space for it. They would have to spend tons of money to move buildings around, build new parking decks, etc. A 25-30 year note on a 50k stadium would not be the hurdle. But anything can be done if you have the will. And they could use the stadium for more than just football. And some of the campus buildings are in need of replacement anyway. But like others have said they won't even pay market value for a coach or pay a buy out.

Space on campus is an issue, but the City of CG does not want an on-campus stadium. They don't want the traffic, parking, or anything else to do with it. On-campus stadium will never happen.

USC has about 40k students and a ton more alumni. Which means a ton more donors.

^^^^This and what they wont tell you is that it cost 50 mil to demolish it. they could have used that plus raised another 150 mil to give it a supreme make over while playing in sunlfe for a couple years.

It could easily happen it just takes some vision from UM. Give campaign contributions, kickbacks, bribes, ect. to CG politicians like other big business men do in Miami and see how any University initiative doesn't get done.

Do you enjoy your default defense of Lil Donna of accusing people of making things up and then using the caveat "If I remember correctly..." in all of your replies?

Here you go:

Miami leaving Orange Bowl, will play in Dolphin Stadium

Shalala called the city's effort "extraordinary," but wondered
if remodeling was worthwhile.

"Is it appropriate for the University of Miami, a private
university, to ask the people, the taxpayers of the city, to spend
$200 million on six games a year?
" Shalala asked.

Ultimately, that answer was no.
