Stadium Not Ready?

I wouldn't go near that death trap for the first few months. They're going to have a bunch of illegal immigrants in there squirting Crazy Glue all over the place trying to get that project finished on time. I fully expect one of those giant screens to fall onto a group of drunken sots and crush them.

We're just peasant tenants but it must really be awesome to be a Dolphins fan. You have an owner that is willing to spend but does so stupidly, gives away home divisional games to London in a failed effort to get a Super Bowl and now has you potentially playing home games in another Florida city because even though he's a real estate guy he can't manage this project correctly.

I passed by there after the spring game and expressed my thoughts that it doesn't look like it'll be ready by the season opening. Do they pro rate UM's costs?
I would assume there is a penalty clause in the contract, pretty much standard procedure for any project that is working toward a fixed date. However, Blake & company as a secondary customer and not the owner may be left holding the bag unless they have included participation in either the construction docs or as a part of the lease. My guess is a nodding head during talks and no participation. If so, we would be on the hook for renting other space. I hope I am wrong.

Does anybody know the season ticket numbers? I heard we have 7,000 new season ticket holders so I'd imagine we're above the 30,000 number of total ticket holders. So if they have to go to a stadium that holds 30,000 how does that work?

Im sure the stadium talk will come about again....this hopefully will be the straw that breaks the camel's back

Sometimes it's scary how much we think alike. From it taking longer than expected, to feeling like a shoddy job will be done to speed up the process... As much as I want to believe the stadium will be nice when finished, it's hard not to think about all the corners they will cut just to have it "ready". I also wondered how well that skirt will hold up to ANY kind of wind. Just an uneasy feeling the more I think about it. Now, I'm no engineer, but something just doesn't sit well with me.

I was excited about the changes to begin with, and had it been ANY other organization doing it, I'd feel much better about it. Knowing it's the Miami cheap@$$ Dolphins... It concerns me.

Me thinks you don't have a clue what you're talking about based on current ticket sales.

Pretty sure they could play the Florida A&M and FAU games at the Hecht Intramural fields. I'm guessing that we'll have 20-30k in attendance for those games.

It doesn't.

That is a ****ing joke. Without seeing the lease, this sure sounds like a breach of the agreement.

Maybe this gives us an out of this ridiculous contract.

Bruh, if we got play a couple of home games elsewhere to start, we better not b on the hook for the same amount; if so, lawsuit, breach of contact and a way out. I truly feel Miami don't wanna be here; but hands are cuffed.

You guys are hilarious. I'm a huge UM fan, but I'm also a realist. UM fans don't show up in huge numbers for these crappy games even when we're dominant. I was at UM in the late 90s early 2000s and we still had half empty stadiums for FAMU and the like. Deal with it. It's reality. We'll check in with you in a few months to see if you've attended all of these games.

Exactly. Every time someone says something about winning curing all, I laugh. It's cures a LITTLE. The only way we start selling out the little games is by playing in a smaller stadium. If UM had a 40K stadium we would see sellouts far more often. Even those games where we normally see 25-30K would become sellouts, because you create a hotter ticket. Less supply = more demand. I think we'd do well in a 40-50K seat stadium, possibly domed. Could serve as an indoor practice facility AND home stadium. Two birds, one stone. Unless there is an NCAA law prohibiting the use of your football stadium for practice.

If it were just UM getting the shaft I'd be worried, but I can't see the NFL allowing games to be ****ed up. They may not care about wife beating, but they sure as **** care about their money and if this threatens that tv coin it'll get fixed quick.

The "NFL" is collectively the owners of the teams. Goodell is an employee of the owners. They will not turn on one of their own, because it's like turning on themselves. If the games have to be played in another stadium, there will be no negative consequences to Ross, other than possible lost revenue, tarnished reputation etc. That's how it works. There endeth the lesson.

Please go back and watch the video (not look at the numbers, but video) for the last times we played FAU and FAMU. We get 50,000 with Golden and Shannon as coach. We'll get more for the first game (s) of the Richt era. Trust me, I've been a Miami fan since I could walk in the early 80s growing up in Miami, I know all about our fans.
