Stadium Not Ready?

Sometimes it's scary how much we think alike. From it taking longer than expected, to feeling like a shoddy job will be done to speed up the process... As much as I want to believe the stadium will be nice when finished, it's hard not to think about all the corners they will cut just to have it "ready". I also wondered how well that skirt will hold up to ANY kind of wind. Just an uneasy feeling the more I think about it. Now, I'm no engineer, but something just doesn't sit well with me.

I was excited about the changes to begin with, and had it been ANY other organization doing it, I'd feel much better about it. Knowing it's the Miami cheap@$$ Dolphins... It concerns me.
I wouldn't go near that death trap for the first few months. They're going to have a bunch of illegal immigrants in there squirting Crazy Glue all over the place trying to get that project finished on time. I fully expect one of those giant screens to fall onto a group of drunken sots and crush them.

I'd be more concerned about them not finishing on time than the construction work not being up to code. There's mountains of red tape and countless inspections. Construction code is a million times more rigorous here than most other places due to Hurricanes. If I were to venture a guess, I'd say there will still be minor details left unfinished before the start of NFL pre season. All the other concerns about having to play in another stadium are unwarranted.

Me thinks you don't have a clue what you're talking about based on current ticket sales.

Pretty sure they could play the Florida A&M and FAU games at the Hecht Intramural fields. I'm guessing that we'll have 20-30k in attendance for those games.

You guys are hilarious. I'm a huge UM fan, but I'm also a realist. UM fans don't show up in huge numbers for these crappy games even when we're dominant. I was at UM in the late 90s early 2000s and we still had half empty stadiums for FAMU and the like. Deal with it. It's reality. We'll check in with you in a few months to see if you've attended all of these games.

Please go back and watch the video (not look at the numbers, but video) for the last times we played FAU and FAMU. We get 50,000 with Golden and Shannon as coach. We'll get more for the first game (s) of the Richt era. Trust me, I've been a Miami fan since I could walk in the early 80s growing up in Miami, I know all about our fans.

LMAO. GTFO. You are one of those guys that buys the company line about the number of people in attendance? I watch every Canes game and there sure as **** aren't 50k people at FAMU games. Believe what you want. People in Miami want the next "hot" thing. Canes vs Rattlers is not a hot ticket.

If having the stadium not ready in time strengthened the case for an on campus stadium or a stadium of our own I'm hoping it happens.

If the stadium is not ready for the opener, if I were Miami I would use this as momentum to get out of or shorten the lease at Sun Life. Take Ross to court if he isn't going to let us out, use this to either let us off without paying, or at least cut that payment or something.

It probably doesn't hurt our revenue much but you could make a case for many punitive damages by this stadium not being ready. It's a terrible image for the program if we have to play at FIU (we already look bad playing at Sun life 45 minutes away), ****es off the fan base, etc etc

You have reading issues. I said watch the video. And we've had 65-70K for FAMU games, and butts in the seats too, and as recently as 2010. They bring 15K+.

Well didn't their band alone have 12000 until they suspended a few for hazing or bullying or some ****?

Sorry, I didn't realize that you were able to count 50k+ by watching the video. Just take whatever is published and subtract 10k to 15k. I don't need to watch a video to know it isn't more than the school said it was. The last time they said it was 48k, so we know it was a **** of a lot less than that.

Do you attend ALL games? What do you know about the actual numbers?? How familiar are you with the stadium?

If it were just UM getting the shaft I'd be worried, but I can't see the NFL allowing games to be ****ed up. They may not care about wife beating, but they sure as **** care about their money and if this threatens that tv coin it'll get fixed quick.

The "NFL" is collectively the owners of the teams. Goodell is an employee of the owners. They will not turn on one of their own, because it's like turning on themselves. If the games have to be played in another stadium, there will be no negative consequences to Ross, other than possible lost revenue, tarnished reputation etc. That's how it works. There endeth the lesson.

I didn't think they'd turn on an owner so much as send some goons to "supervise". Organization that big doesn't let anything mess with the money. Like the mob.

This. We use to get more for FAMU during the OB days. I believe in the early 2000's we had 60k+ at the OB. Night games at the OB were so much fun.

This is where our school will continue to be amateur hour next to our rivals. This will be used against us during recruiting. It is embarrassing. SLS is a failed project. Unfortunately, we do not have good leaders that can create a proper vision and business plan to make this happen.

Real question: We know much Ross is making from us being tenants at NoLife; but does anyone know how much we make from being there? Have we made or lost money since from moving from the OB? I know Miami is a private school, but just curious to know if anyone knew that info.

There was no way there were 35K or less last time we played FAMU, but if it makes you feel better, fine.

We're just peasant tenants but it must really be awesome to be a Dolphins fan. You have an owner that is willing to spend but does so stupidly, gives away home divisional games to London in a failed effort to get a Super Bowl and now has you potentially playing home games in another Florida city because even though he's a real estate guy he can't manage this project correctly.

Don't forget he hosted a Florida Gator Day to celebrate Tim Tebow.

The Dolphins don't play at home until like week three which would be week 4 for us. It won't affect them
