St Thomas Aquinas vs Lakeland Update

Lakeland is up 10-0 at the half. The STA D is having trouble stopping Lakeland’s rushing attack. STA has moved the ball on offense but their drives have stalled resulting in 2 missed FGs. Lakeland’s Canes target Keon Zipperer had a long TD called back due to a penalty and 2020 RB Demarkus Bowman has 119 yards and an 80 yard TD run. They both look like they deserve the hype. For STA Daniel Carter had a long run, but was caught from behind. The speed difference between Bowman and him is clear to see. 2019 WR Jamal Cooney has made a couple of plays for STA as well. Canes targets on the STA D have made some plays, but the Lakeland O Line has controlled the STA front 7 to this point.

Both teams fumble on their opening drives of the 2nd half, Lakeland’s Bowman’s fumble was recovered by UM commit Anthony Solomon, UM commit Jason Munoz in on the hit. STA scores to cut lead to 10-7, but immediately gives up 90 yard KO return. 17-7 Lakeland.

Solomon may not be the athlete huff is but he's always around the ball. Quick on the diagnosis can make up for lack of speed on the high school level. Will be interesting to see the college transition
