Spring thoughts (offense)

Idk why anybody is talking about QB's still. Perry is the starter. Pete said it months ago that he believes that he will be the starter. Now Richt is telling us basically that these guys suck. Couple that with Perry being the NUMBER 1 player on our 2017 board & it's a stone cold lock.

We r talking about qbs because we r worried about starting a true frosh and wasting a great defense

Well it will be what it will be. He's going to be the starter. Having Rchards, Walton, Herndon, & some wheels of his own with help with a smooth transition. Plus our schedule is a cake walk. You can't have his first start be against LSU next year. You just can't.

4.5 months and two pre-games away from FSU. Worse comes to worst we can run (w/heavy option) to throw with Malik & RBs. Richt obviously knew we'd be in trouble if Brad left because he's been preparing for the option-game since he got here. I think Malik understands tempo, has a strong enough arm, can escape if needed, and is a bit of a gamer.

So despite his erratic Spring I'd have confidence he could figure it out over the next 4+ months to give us a chance to beat FSU. He showed something in that Duke game; an ability to work the game and find a way to win. Hopefully all 3 of these guys can improve and Perry comes prepared to have a better QB competition in the fall. After a starter is determined I think playing to their strength is gonna be key, in same way it was for Brad last season when we went max protect to create more time.

I think with the 2nd year of conditioning, Oline/general talent infusion, and QB mobility, Richt will be able to move the pocket and mix the running game in enough to give the QB(s) time and create enough high % throws. We just have to be tough, execute all 3 phases and find a way to win each week, which I believe we'll be a little better at doing this season.

Wasn't there to hear the badmouthing but hopefully it comes from a sense of ownership, because I think he's got the goods and I like his makeup as an athlete.

I agree, I think Malik is our best shot unless N'kosi comes in and shows he can handle it

Richt has a major challenge this season and that's proving to everyone this Offense is moving forward. Unfortunately, he has been dealt a ****** hand (not his fault) with the QB position, and this will raise some flags to many. Hence, why my expectations are maintained this year. I expect Perry to eventually become the starter (with our weak schedule) and build momentum for 2018.

Would love for Jack to be the guy, but I'm rolling with shireffs... Unless nkosi is the next coming I don't feel great that the last guy in will be playing against fsu in week 3?

The problem were running into now (not sure if you picked up on it yet D is with letting recruits watch sherriffs & Ryan Collins lil brother is they're getting worried about us moving forward. They need to see our offense isn't this regularly. Because it can become a double edged sword. Some may see the opportunity while others may be scared away because they feel we can't compete. All I'll say is a certain 2018 qb commit left this weekends scrimmage comparing us to other teams he's seen & talking a bunch of **** bout how the offense looked... let just hope most of our kids are leaders and not followers.

Bruh, if nick Saban can convince three 5* WRs to commit to him after that **** show last year and after Jalen Hurns almost singlehandlh killed Calvin Ridley draft stock not to mention having two other 5* WRs on bench as well..Richt should be able to tell these kids his hand picked successor ain't on campus yet and to trust him.

His handpicked successor is the one rallying the troops around what a ****show we are on offense...

Is he thinking about decommitting and trying to get others to as well?

Outside of Hightower, Dee has been wrong on pretty much everything he's said about recruiting, so I'm going with the opposite of whatever he claims, let's review what Dee has told us:

1. Devonta Smith was 100% coming here (he committed to Dee at dinner)
2. We're getting 6 or 7 IMG guys in the 18 class
3. Casey Thompson visited us twice since Sitkowski committed (yes he flew here from Oklahoma twice within the past 2 months, unnoticed of course) and was supposed to pick us.
4. Taron Vincent would end up selecting Miami.

I could go on, but what's the point. I put zero value into his Sitkowski claims

Him being wrong about Devonta is similar to Pete (and literally everyone) being wrong about Woopie. He committed to coaches. Was supposed to have his last visit here, and never came. Dee's close with Dugans. So I'd trust his info here.

He said Vincent wanted to go to tOSU, but that his dad didn't want him to. Given that and that we have Kool, and his nephew is his roommate, he said he thinks at the end of the day we get him. He still has like 10 months left to be right. regardless he said he "just had a feeling". It wasn't like he was etching it in stone as a prediction.

And he didn't say we were definitely getting 6 or 7. He said that it was possible, then said one of the kids he was talking about was 2019 (Evan Neal). Anyways, its definitely possible we get 5: Sitkowksi, Hightower, Dunlap, Vincent, Faalele, Unije, Brown, just to name a few. ristwasdown says faalele is going to UGA, so we'll see about that. Unije is probably a gaytor. Dunlap was definitely committed at one point.

Everything he said about the WR situation has just been true. Probably because his best relationship on this staff is Dugans. and that other dude ristwasdown has also essentially confirmed almost everything Dee has said (even though he's acting like Dee over-sensationalizes everything) from Xavier Williams, to moore not being able to commit, to Allison being best qb so far but playing with 3rd string for reasons other than his play...

At this point you should know to take what everyone says with a grain of salt and understand where the information is originating from. But Tweed, Dee, Rattler, imo can be trusted. Theres a bunch of other guys that attend practices that know what they are talking about, and it pretty obvious Dee does.

I know the schedule is weak, but I'm scared to death of a true freshman QB N'kosi Perry going up against Florida state in Tallahassee. FSU is overrated just about every year, but they are still a good team. Perry isn't as good as Kaaya or Watson coming outta high school. Both those guys started as freshmen.

The one thing that gives me confidence about this situation is we aint gonna rush it. When richt says the situation now etc & don't read into too much because it may change daily,by fall, by game 2,3,4 etc he's clearly saying he's not comfortable where were at but he's not gonna rush a kid through injuries or before whoever it is is ready to run the offense.

You're a fool. I've always said dee is 50% right. Everything I've ever badmouthed is the extent or timing of his comments. Which I have proven to be right each time, yet you still love bringing me up. I don't agree with the way dee goes about things and these kids. Everyone knew pope was coming, I just knew it wasn't when dee was claiming it to be and proved that on this board.

I came out and said Moore would commit in two weeks and it's looking like that may not be the case. I'll admit I'm wrong if I end up being wrong, I have no reason to hide. Regardless of the timing of Moore's commitment, he will end up being in this class. Xavier Williams is not coming here, no matter how much he's "feeling" Miami when he visits

I feel good about Rosier against FSU. I've seen him play on the road with one week preparation & make MONEY throws....

If Perry starts, At least we will have the opportunity to play FSU twice and cement our QB of the future.

It isn't just limited to recruiting. He came on here once and told us that CB Michael Jackson was so bad at practice and was being so much of a ***** that he wasn't gonna play that upcoming Saturday. Of course he actually did play.

Or the one about Jackson being switched to safety instead of Redwine and that Banda and Rumph flipped a coin to decide which one was going to make the switch. He'll probably come back and say he was joking about the coin flipping part. He was wrong about which player got switched though.

The Brad Kaaya low 5th round grade thing and he felt he was coming back was another one.

So all the talk of "we're" not gonna have to deal with Shirreffs or Rosier in the fall holds little weight. He's talking about watching these two practice so we're all uniformed but called it a Perry vs Allison battle when Perry hasn't set foot on campus yet and Richt won't even call Allison the unchallenged #3

I agree. It's bizarre to me that someone who claims to be a former player just straight up trashes so many guys on the team. And if he is talking **** about our offense to Hightower, Sitkowski, and the other IMG kids, hopefully the coaches find out and never let him around the program again.

let's face it: dee is a fraud and a total douche

Lol. Stop with this ****. Duke defense was ***. Fsu defense is on 3 different levels from that duke team.

McDermott, Gauthier and Gall really anchored our line last year. We were very bad until those changes took place. McDermott will struggle with guys that would give any LT fits, but i think he is more than capable. Donaldson his going to be a really good OG at 330 i feel. If anyone can give us anything at LG we'll be in business. I hope it's Gaynor who can find a role inside either at C or LG

I want to know where all the Darling is really a guard people are at. He was horrible as a LT and people thought he could just kick inside because of size. He has no nasty, not a road grader, and really no fire to him
I'm here. I've always said he wasn't a LT and argued with people for years on that point. I think people are overreacting to DMoney's comments. I think Darling has a good chance to play in the NFL and hope he finds a spot on a zone blocking offense. He did well at RT as a True Frosh when Coley was calling a ton of zone plays for Duke.

Not all guards have to be road graders. It just really helps in what Richt likes to do. This is why fit is key.

I value your opinion, but we will disagree about Darling and his NFL potential

You're right when you say not all guards have to be road graders, but they need to have some fire, passion, and nasty in abundance if they're not brutes in the middle. Darling has none of them in my eyes. Just an overrated kid on a really great HS football team. However i am rooting for him to prove me wrong. If he does that means we should have a decent chance at success on the OL.

Perry and Weldon are the best options here! Just look at HS films and pay close attention to their skills set: feet and delivery. With a HC who is actually the QB coach can prepare each for the college game. Let Weldon, Perry, or Allison run with the first unit sometime. Let's see how well Rosier perform with the second and third units.

Rosier has happy feet, and plays nervous! Yes, he can run, but is he a winner? Weldon and Perry plays the game with confidence, just be them in with the first unit...the same opportunity given to Donaldson.
