Rivers will be supplanted by Okunlola. If that’s near the end of spring, fall camp, or in the season is obviously going to come down to how well Okunlola shows out in pads.

By the end of the year, it’ll be
LT - Okunlola
LG - Cohen
C - Lee
RG - Cooper (he’s showing he’s all business transforming his body)
RT - Mauigoa

I dont care how ling Rivers or Nelson have been here, how many starts they have, or what they’ve in the past.

I don’t think the coaches care and you shouldn’t either.

Nelson and Rivers don’t win you titles. Players like Mauigoa and Okunlola do.

Respectfully disagree. I think Pancake and Maiu can be AAs under Mario and Mirabal. But I don't care how physically ready you are as a first year college student, the probability of you replacing two experienced and talented players like Rivers and Nelson as a starter is a huge stretch. Those older guys may not be Day 1 or Day 2 picks. But both will get drafted and play in the NFL. They're not scrubs.

Personally, I'd rather have Rivers starting inside opposite Lee, with Cooper rotating in, and going for a GT at the other OT spot opposite Nelson, with Samson, Mauigoa and McCoy rotating in.

Yes. I meant that the coaches aren't looking to bring in anyone to challenge for a starting spot. They have 7 or 8 guys (depending on Nelson's health) that they feel are capable of starting and none of those guys are getting passed by a transfer. If they were to bring in another O lineman, it would be purely for depth purposes.

You can be happy with your starters and still want to bring in more top-end guys. We desperately need another OT, IMHO. And if Rivers kicks out there, we need another IOL.

Nelson I can agree but Rivers is as legit as FM SO.......he's an elite guard. Agree though u need elite to win natties and right now those kids have to prove that 5 star rating. Right now they are zero stars but we expect them to play like 5 stars. When we see it on the field we can rerank them. I believe they will play like 5 stars imo

Concern is who is producing explosives from any of that list? Anything being done to make the team faster?
In 2022
Parrish- 4.7ypr
Chaney- 4ypr (injured)

Restrepo 11ypc
George- 10ypc (more explosive 2y ago)
Young- 11ypc
Smith- 9.8ypc

Skinner- 14ypc
Arroyo- 13ypc (injured)
McCormick has 4 TD's in 6 years
Our only hope is that Dawson can scheme big plays. Nothing matters if TVD goes down again. Although I'd think that Dawson could do significantly more with Jacurri than Gattis proved he could do.

The staff feels that nothing in the portal is better than what we currently have at the top of the depth chart. Now, they might still bring in someone for depth purposes but that brings back my original point. You're asking a guy to transfer here to be a backup. Most portal guys are looking for playing time. Your only options are to take a JAG from another program who is cool with not being a starter or take a young, unproven player who isn't looking to start now but can compete for a position in the future. I could see option #2 as a possibility but we already have plenty of JAGs to bother with option 1.

Lashlee was able to squeeze plenty of big plays out of Rambo and he ran a very pedestrian 4.57 40 at the combine. A good coach can scheme up ways to make plays even if he doesn't have elite talent.

That old adage, “All work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy.” Did I get that right? I’m sure they’ve been cramming the playbook all this time since they checked in. Nothing wrong with decompressing a little bit, make room for a fresh perspective and renewed focus on the goal. On a side note, I remember JJ watching a movie with the boys the night before. It worked wonders. It’s a long year they’re in for…let them play for a bit.

Mauigoa already passed up McCoy and Washington (he’s out of here, by the way).

The rate at which Okunlola is splitting reps with Rivers is accelerating every practice.

Rivers and Nelson are just ok. When the difference between the young guy and the veteran is negligible - which it is - then you give the youth the benefit of the doubt and let them learn on the job. These two guys are closer to Tyree St. Louis than they are Feliciano or some other cats like that.

Make a mental note of watching them during the spring game if you don’t believe me.

Can someone point me to the dominant games that Rivers has had at LG? I’ll even take a stretch of series against higher level opponents. People keep posting that he’s elite and he’s not. Cooper has flashes of elite on field production.

FM and Rivers are not the same player.
