Fast forward to this spring, Gunner Stockton showing out and Emory Williams not doing **** while getting 1st team reps

Imagine if we had a back up showing out this spring while getting all the first team reps. Instead we have to pray Carson Beck stays healthy all year
I’m not necessarily disagreeing or justifying it by any means, but were we not in the same situation with Cam last year? This isn’t new or exclusive to this season (which yes I understand doesn’t make it any better).

Carson Beck is better then Gunnar Stockton who gives af what he's doing @ UGA we have the better QB

And who exactly told you that? Because we don't have a rotation set at safety and 2 of them come in heavy. Far as LB we really got no clue how that room is gonna play out. But possibility exists malik goes back in that room and Bobby and Aldarius will tear your whole head off. Popo ain't no slacker either. So to say we lack physicality isn't exactly genuine since we don't know how either position group gets set.
Chase as well..

I’ve said all along, we must pray Carson Beck stays healthy all season, just like Cam Ward staying healthy last year

on the LB situation. Just think if we had 1 guy like Beason or Perryman in that room we’d feel REALLY good bout this D. A “statement” type LB to go with these young guys.
I think us moving Patterson to linebacker will give us that! He has instincts and striking ability

While chase will definitely hit you, he's got flaws in his game that makes me not trust him. But yeah if he catches you slipping he'll put you on a stretcher
his movement in space? I can see that.

Yea, the dude needs to set the tone with his play across the board.

no the point is OUR back up isn’t taking the next step, that’s the concerning part
Well the difference is our backup guys (Emory/Judd) were meant to be project guys basically that if they develop, great, if not then we make sure we have a starter above them.. that doesnt apply to Stockton who was a high 4 star borderline 5 star who was highly sought after. You can critique the staff for not recruiting higher profile Qbs do your thing but at this point its pointless to keep complaining, we have what we have, lets hope Beck balls out this yr and they dont have to start at all, go canes.

I agree, I’m grateful we have Carson Beck, we’re truly lucky , I wanna see him play in to a Top 5 pick

He's injured. No clue for how long.
Well he tweeted I guess his ACL or some other knee surgery (I hope) surgery on like 12/12. So If it was an ACL, thats what return at the earliest mid sept? Hopefully it was something less significant.

Yeah dude moves like he can only go in a straight line. Doesn't seem to have much agility.

And again dude is what like a 6th year player and has made basically no impact thus far? He's fine for depth, but if he's getting even Lb 4 snaps, that's not a good sign tbh.

We need Wiley, Pruitt, Hayes, Popo to step up. I was really hoping for Bobby too, but if he's injured especially during implementing the new scheme and apparantely didn't even know the playbook last year after being in the same defense for 2 years... well I'm doubtful he will contribute even if he was healthy before fall.. Wes looks like he never knows the plays either.

Need a starting LB and NT type to transfer in.

I personally think we have our backup on the team right now in Nickle. The kid should still be a senior in HS, and was throwing to walk-ons up until a couple practices ago. Now that he's a few reps in and throwing with the ones and twos, he's starting to show his potential. If Beck goes down, this is the kid that will give us the best chance to win. Whatever reps Emory is getting, they need to start shifting to Luke ASAP.

As for depth at QB, Emory is a Gattis kid, and Dawson offered Judd after only a few weeks on the job and late in the cycle for a QB. I think the future is bright though, with Luke and Coleman.

I am also hoping Luke continues to get progress. He's got the summer to work with the receivers and Beck and I hope he gets more reps with the two deep guys early in fall camp. It could be an interesting situation as long as Emory is on the roster.

This may be true but also this era is a different type of college athlete. A lot of kids off the field have many other interests and are happy go lucky with laid back demeanors. We have dudes that paint their nails but will give you 150 and 2 TD’s every Saturday. Kids can be laid back but still be elite.
You're right about that. No argument here.

Nahhhh our backups cant be relied on to win us games like everybody else, fire Mario
It’s not that we have great backups. It’s that most teams don’t either. Our season potentially going into the tank if our starting quarterback gets hurt isn’t unique to us.

Here’s something else to ponder. Had Emory Williams not played in the bowl game would we be having this discussion at all? Half the board would be mad that they signed Beck instead of giving Williams a chance. One bad performance can completely change how the public perceives a player. We went from “he beat Clemson and was driving us to beat FSU” to “he’s not an FBS quarterback” in one half of a football game.

For the record, I was never a big fan but there’s definitely a bunch of random backup quarterbacks out there that fans are confident in who haven’t done anything to earn any confidence.
