I stated numerous times i would take butch over strong. Herman is getting to the point of unrealistic in my opinion. Yes i would take herman over strong, but considering Houston is on the verge of paying him, and USC/SC may be looking at him too I just dont see how we outbid them. One big reason I dont want Pagano is because he is most likely to be in the playoffs this yr and that means taking the chance that we can hire him super late in the process. Forget the recruiting class falling apart for a second and just think, what happens if Pagano makes a run in the playoffs. 1. Will indy rlly let him go? 2. Even if they do what is going to hold back other NFL teams throwing money at him and outbidding us as well. Then we are stuck at the 11th hour with our **** in our hand and our recruiting class has fallen apart as well.

I am white, i couldnt care less if hes black, white, or asian. I am just not willing to throw out everything he accomplished at Louisville. I also stated in my original post people have every right to question the Texas issues. But like i have also stated every single name that has been brought has issues or are unrealistic. I would prefer strong over cristobal, chud, and schiano for sure. Obviously i would prefer the big names like patterson, dantonio, gundy, kelly etc. But give me a few good reasons on why they would leave there current situations for Miami?

People are making **** up to defend this guy... They were in shambles?? Winning 8 and 9 games a year?? Consecutive top recruiting classes? Then what is Miami?

If he can't resurrect Texas from shambles then how is he going to bring a 6 win Miami team back with half the resources.

They won 8 games in 2013. He then won 6. This year, his win total is going to be 4. This is the CLASSIC excuse people made for Randy, and then for Al.

You are having to search for excuses to justify this man. I can likely find 20 coaches who had no players drafted who had better records than Strong. Why should strong be placed higher? B/C you think his blackness will somehow help him recruit? B/C the black man just couldn't get a fair shake, it's not his fault right?

You would take Strong over Butch? Over Herman? Over Pagano? Or are they unrealistic too? Conveniently, everyone but the failed Texas coach who **** his pants, is unrealistic.

Id take all of them over strong. Why would Gundy leave his alma mater that has his team in a position to be in the playoff for a rebuilding Miami program?

I am not claiming he is the next urban meyer. All i am doing is proving to people is that it is absolutely ridiculous to compare him to golden or shannon. We are not getting Kelly, patterson, gundy, herman (most likely), etc. There are flaws with every single coach other wise they wouldn't be on the open market or looking for a new gig.

I would have chosen Butch to take over immediately and I still want him over anyone else that has been speculated that is realistic. But after Butch I would take Richt or Strong. Don't want Schiano, Cristobal, Chud, etc.

In our universe, a coach is either a god or an idiot. Doesnt seem to be any in between. I dont think Strong is Saban but I also dont think he is awful. But unlike most of the people on this board, I dont claim to be an expert on coaching or coaching searches.

Do you think he's better than Mike Gundy? Butch Davis? Tom Herman? Mark Richt? You clearly think he's not Saban, but the man isn't as good as a half dozen other options. Why, then, do you want him above others? What does Strong have going for him that say Mike Gundy does not?

i voted for strong because i am not against him like most. Unfortunately I am not making the decisions. If it was up to me Herman and Butch would be 1 and 2 and id make it happen. He wants better coaches than Strong. Guys like Herman and Davis and Pagano. But instead of championing them, and making it known that as a fan Miami deserves a great coach, he's going to promote a coach who he likes a lot less, b/c he's afraid the other guys won't get supported.

This University is not very bright. But they are very, very concerned with perception. If it wasn't for fan outrage they absolutely would have kept Golden through this year. Fans who constantly let it be known that this wasn't acceptable actually did make a difference.

If you are just so laissez faire about who the coach should be, why bother coming on and voting at all? Or arguing?

Have you emailed Blake? Have you donated? If you care about the program, and you like Tom Herman, how bout stumping for him instead of coming in this thread and trying to argue why an 8 loss coach is a good coach? Put that effort to good use!

Yeah because Al Golden won a BCS bowl with a team in the AAC. People want to claim Strong only won because of Teddy as if he didn't recruit or develop Teddy. If Teddy was such a sure thing coming out of high school than why didn't he choose a "better" school than Louisville? Teddy wasnt even the starting qb his junior yr of high school yet people act like his college coach had nothing to do with him becoming good or the team winning the way they did. And if you want to claim he only won because of Teddy, than how did numerous defensive players become top nfl draft picks under Strong like Mauldin, Pryor, Smith, etc. They fell into his lap too i suppose? Oo and before people claim Strong is a defensive coach and had nothing to do with Teddys development, well that may be true but guess who hired whoever did develop Teddy???

The Texas thing does scare me and should scare you. But to claim Strong is on the same level as golden or shannon is absolutely ridiculous. Whether you want to believe it or not high school coaches and players respect strong down here way more than they ever gave a **** about Golden. People on here continually say that Texas has all the resources in the world how has he sucked. 1. He had zero recruiting ties to Texas before he arrived (he does in Miami). 2. Kids have been getting offered and communicating with college coaches earlier than ever so to expect him to come in and defeat OK, atm, Lsu, baylor, etc immediiately in recruiting is absurd. You act as if those schools dont recruit as well. 3. Texas was in absolute shambles before he took over and people were flocking to numerous other schools because Texas lost the lust among recruits in the area. Also take into account when he took over he kicked off i believe it was 9 players 4. To sum up he already has plenty of relationships built down here, in my opinion the Miami roster as we speak is ten times better than the Texas team that he took over, and lastly the admin seems to actually believe in him unlike Texas board of trustees when they hired him. From day one he had people calling it a terrible move from within the school. Let me apologize if I believe he was set up to fail in Texas and that maybe just maybe it would take more than a yr and a half on the job to turn around.

I would agree with that statement. The Texas thing scares me enough to take a pass on Strong but I would say he is better than those two.

If Butch is not the real choice, then who would a school which destroyed a great program on purpose pick as number 2 to a coach about to be fired for getting his rear kicked at one of the Top 5 programs in the country? I'm guessing another coach who is or has been fired for getting his rear kicked at a lesser program. So, Mark Richt, who will probably turn us down again. Then who knows. Can they actually pick Mario over Butch?

For me, I am clinging to the hope that this is all about cover story for Paul and Miller ending up forcing with Butch in. It sucks that Butch could be recruiting while these guys do interviews. I hope we don't lose our QB and MLB recruit while we wait. They are EEs and Jack has already said he has no interest in a option type HC.
