The myth that you can’t find OL in South Florida is starting to crumble. Last year, five local linemen signed with Top 10 schools (LSU, Oregon and Florida). Overall, the region produced eight P5 linemen and 13 overall FBS signees. This year’s class is even better than last year’s at the top. It’s not quite as deep, although many players on this list would have more offers if there was a spring evaluation period.

Schools are starting to notice. Clemson grabbed a local sleeper in ’19 and already has a big commitment in ’21. Even an unexpected school like Arizona has signed local OL in the last two classes and offered a ton more. Miami, led by Garin Justice, is looking to correct the mistakes of Butch Barry by prioritizing local talent. If all goes well, Miami will sign at least three of the players on this list.

Marcus Tate, University School (6’5, 326)- Massive dancing bear with footwork, flexibility and balance. Has been the most impressive player on the camp circuit since his sophomore year. Experienced pass blocker who plays with patience and technique. Basketball background. Easily beat much-smaller athletes in the UA agility challenge before losing a nail-biter to Dallas Turner, whom he outweighs by 100 pounds. Good body composition and does not need dramatic weight loss. Clemson commit.

Laurence Seymore, Central (6’2, 293)- Looks like a G5 player on the hoof, plays like the best player in the city. Freakishly strong hands. Lines up at LT for Central but projects inside due to height. Alpha-dog personality who has been dominant since his youth days. Outstanding feet and always on balance with easy bend. Moves like a fullback in space. Miami commit and brother is a ’23 Miami commit at WR.

Ryan Rodriguez, Columbus (6’3, 280)- Emerging prospect with elite intangibles and underrated physical traits. Leader of first state championship team in Columbus history, where he paved the way for Henry Parrish. Plays through the whistle consistently. LT in high school but projects inside. Big frame for a center with broad back, long arms and strong hands. Dominated at the camp circuit against four- and five-star competition. Excellent hand placement and overall technique. First team all-state. Offers from Miami, Louisville and Ole Miss.

Michael McLaughlin, Douglas (6’7, 255)- Converted TE/DE who moved from Danville, Indiana as a junior. Long and lean frame still early in its development. Aggressive player who is further ahead as a run blocker than pass blocker. Ivy league offers with 4.16 GPA. Also a very good shot-blocker on the basketball court. Big upside if he can improve his technique and anchor. Miami commit.

Kareem Harden, Stranahan (6’5, 285)- Raw big man with intriguing natural tools. Ideal OT frame with long arms and sturdy body type. Athletic, easy mover with flexibility to get low and drive. Also plays DT and edge on defense. Opened eyes by handling UF commit Tyreak Sapp at camp. Offers from Kentucky and Kansas.

Marco Fugar, 6’4, 280 (St. Thomas)- Mean-spirited mauler who seeks out collisions. Plantation transfer. Plays LG and has a lot of experience pulling in Wing-T offense. Good straight-line speed. Delivers initial jolt with strong hands. Has gained significant weight since his sophomore year. Pitt commit.

Anthony Earle, Gibbons (6’3, 309)- Maniac finisher who learned from teammate and UF signee Gerald Mincey. Lines up at RT but projects inside. Plays through the whistle to the point of dirtiness. Short, thick body type. Coordinated athlete who is effective at second level. Needs to improve hands and has average length, but a good football player. Offers from Indiana, Appalachian State and Marshall.

Isaiah Bunn, Deerfield Beach (6’2, 270)- Quick, competitive player who plays with balance and looks for work. Plays LG and C but projects as a pivot due to size. Battle-tested against good competition. Underrated. Offers from West Virginia and Western Kentucky.

Okino King, Northwestern (6’2, 298)- Short, explosive battering ram. Built more like a 3-technique DT than an OL. Knocks back defenders with initial pop. Moves well in space but needs to improve flexibility. FAU commit.

Gunnar Hansen, St. Thomas Aquinas (6’4, 305)- Baby-faced, doughy prospect with quick feet and upside. AMH Delray transfer. Showed ability to handle speed rush in camp circuit. Needs to improve flexibility and bend. Surprisingly good athlete who can make leaps if he leans out and physically matures. Toledo offer.

Jaheim Shannon, Palm Beach Central (6’4, 330)- Big-bodied road-grader who is flying under the radar. Massive lower body which helps him anchor and drive block. Plays LT but projects inside due to lack of top-level athleticism. Decent feet for his size with some ability to redirect. Needs to improve punch but has some tools. Offers from Pitt and Tennessee State.

Michael Marshall, Norland (6’3, 280)- Athletic blocker who excels in space. Played LG next to Florida signee Isaiah Walker. Effective on pulls. Competes and finishes. Also plays defense. Claims Miami offer but has a surprising lack of recruiting interest otherwise.

Devonte Lee, Edison (6’2, 315)- Carol City transfer with the ability to maul in a phone booth. LG who projects there in college. Similar build to Cleveland Reed with wide, stout body and powerful hands. Game is built more on strength than flexibility or athleticism. FAU offer.

Andrew Weisz, Benjamin (6’5, 290)- High IQ blocker with college-ready size. His brother, Martin, is an OL for Virginia. Offers from all of the Ivy league schools. Dominated small-school competition but had issues with athleticism at the camp level. Bit of a leaner. USF offer.

River Brazil, Chaminade (6’4, 285)- Aggressive blocker that helped pave the way for 2K yard rusher Thad Franklin. Natural G who replaced Willie Moise at RT when he got hurt. Father played for Oklahoma State. No offers yet but has enough tools to play FBS.

Would love to get Tate but in reality you dont get kids like that unless your consistently winning or its a level playing field which we all know its not.

Seymore and Rodriquez are must gets.

Love Seymour, kid dominates on the field and in camp settings that are tailor made for OL to fail. Must hold on to him.

Tate going to be impossible to flip I'm assuming but hopefully we are trying.

Gaynor and Donaldson weren’t great last year but better two years ago. I’ll give Gaynor a mulligan but ND needs to get himself in shape if he wants to sniff the NFL.

Both were solid in 2017, the T experiment with Donaldson failed in 2018 as I expected well before the season and Gaynor redshirted that year. Every single OL we had last year sucked. I think Gaynor will be a lot better this year but I don't expected anything positive from Donaldson unless he drops a ton of weight. What did he play at in 2017?

Our OL play has been largely poor, but our South Florida OL are usually the guys that start and make the league. The OOS linemen have been a disaster for us in the past decade.

We’ve missed on so many others from south Florida. Not even the major bag guys but even guys like:

-McCray brothers who were At UCF (huge loss)
-Yodny Cajuste
-Ryan Crozier
-Bobby Hart (borderline big bag guy)
-Marcus Gilbert
-John Miller
-kevin Pamphile

in recent memory. All of whom are in the nfl and/or had strong college careers.

Forget the NFL. If Donutson wants to get back in the starting lineup he's got a lot of work to do. And coming off season-ending knee surgery, rehabbing during a shelter-in-place with no Spring, and based on his weight issues to date, I would be (pleasantly) surprised if he was under 360 lbs. right now.

We should land Seymore, Rodriguez, McLaughlin and 1 more sleeper from this list. Then we win the battle for Cali-based Rosas and we'll be set at OL for 2020. 5 is a large class for OL but it's necessary to rebuild/restock that room from transfers/graduation. I would also be okay taking the 4 names listed above and leave an additional scholly open for an Avantae Will type of talent that wants in on the eve of signing day.

**** 360. He’s probably 370-375.

Absolutely need 5 OL. Herbert and Hillary won’t be here after this year and ****** graduates.
