Something we may see this week

Everyone keeps saying that Richt knows all he needs to know about Rosier and Shirreffs, yet I don't see how, given Kaaya was the clear starter up until he declared 6 months ago. The Spring was the first time Richt was able to test them with the ones, and he had to first eliminate Weldon, Testaverde and Allison. Now Perry.

And I just don't see how you get over the fact that they were clearly MUCH better than Perry in the scrimmage. How hypocritical would it be for Richt to prefer Perry as a #2 over one of them at this point? They've earned their co-#1 status until Perry can outplay one of them.

Golden still got some of you shook, because some of you believe that dumb as5 theory that kaaya only started because golden was trying to use it as an excuse that we had a poor season and chose to play him even though ryan Williams was there... what qb do YOU know that tore their ACL and come back healthy in 5 months?... let's be real. Kaaya started because he was the most ready qb on the roster period. In addition to that this is an entirely different situation considering how great our defense is and our schedule is set up easily to break a young guy in.

From everything that you've seen D, who is the best QB on the squad & not just who you expect but based on everything you've witnessed.

I've been confused since Spring with the QB comp, because everything we keep hearing is how inconsistent or bad Rosier & Shirreffs looks, but it seems as though they've basically had the lead the whole way through.

It just doesn't seem like there's been much clarity with this.

Exactly. So everyone should quit acting like they have any idea who will get the job.

The scrimmage is a piece of the body of work but not the whole thing. Yeah it's important but how did each perform in the 10 practices before the scrimmage. That's also important too

I'll say this, this is far more interesting than Frank Costa-Ryan Collins.

but on a serious note, I think this whole situation is clouded by the fact the FSU game is so **** early in the season as opposed to the past years.

Lol at all of this argument. No one knows who plays were made with/against in the scrimmage. Coach suggested that the stats were skewed based on situational drills. I don't know how any of the QBs performed during the scrimmage portion. I would like to think that this will resolve itself before long. Play the best guy. Play the guy that will win the most games this year. Perry has the upside, but one of the others may be good enough to win us games. I am down with any of the three. I won't lie though, I hope that guy is Perry.

as soon as I read that Rosier never bothered to watch film before Richt got here was enough to know he is not the qb you want managing your offense. I doubt the prior coaches were locking the film room so Rosier couldn't get in.

He didn't say that. Rosier said he didn't watch film before he had to start against Duke in 2015. It is still a horrendous quote but you are changing the quote.

I was not attempting to quote or else I would have used these " " but still doesn't detract from my point.

He wasn't preparing correctly two seasons ago and in that same quote he told everyone that he is now looking at film of the defense he sees in practice all the time and the film of future opponents.

Does that apparent change in preparation detract from the point?

No. I find it problematic that he didn't want to get better at his craft and was resigned to his spot on the depth chart until forced by necessity to study film. He never thought one day he might be starter, or was he expecting to just be handed the position based on seniority?

So correcting a mistake isn't important. He made the mistake and should be forever judged by it even if he learned from it. Ok, I see where you stand.

Golden never had you shook. You loved that man so much

This. You're not going to get a neutral opinion out of dmoney. He literally said in the OP they should put Perry in the final 2 even if he hasn't earned it.

The great thing about Richt is that he believes in competition. I'm sure whoever the starter is, it will be the guy who has won the job and gives us the best chance to win right now.

While 2018 will probably be a better Miami team, we can compete for an ACC title in 2017. The coaches aren't sacrificing that just to get Perry some reps

Look up the posts I was bashing golden all the way back in 2013 when duke beat us..

At the end of the day the season starts in less than 3 weeks. It will all be sorted out in due time

True. At this point, I don't care who Richt starts, all I know is we better win at least 10 regular season games. I don't want any **** excuses. If we lose 3 games that would mean that we probably lost to at least 2 teams in the Coastal who are also starting NEW QBs. We also need to beat our freaking rival for the first time in **** near a decade or run the risk of our annual game not being considered a rivalry anymore. So whoever he chooses he better be 100% spot on.....or things could get REALLY ugly.

Again, laughable that you eliminate one of your top performers in favor of someone who has yet to perform.

I could see it if he was even somewhat close, but he isn't.

If he tears it up next scrimmage, then it's a new ballgame.

But right now? lol, no.

Just because you slid all your chips on one player doesn't mean you should stop thinking rationally.

It's like they're doubling down because they already have mostly everything riding on it.

A QB competition based on a few weeks of practice and two scrimmages is never going to be resolved in a quantifiable way, or at least one that is statistically relevant. At the end of the day Richt is going to trust his eyes and his gut. He knows what he has in Rosier at this point. If he doesn't feel comfortable with Rosier as the starter, it's not going to matter if he completed a few more passes than Perry (or Shirreffs) in practice.
