Something I noticed (OL)

I noticed Donaldson playing some LT last night.

LT Donaldson
LG Boulware
C Gauthier
RG Gaynor
RT Scaife

Boulware as a swing backup has been fine in pass pro...run game, its same ol same ol.

If the staff can't maximize Donaldson - and the talent they have - might as well pack it up. We can't be trotting Jones and Mahoney out there though. Thats bad news.

Donaldson should not be a tackle. He's too slow footed

Was getting beat off the line by Sav St. DEs

Move him to G

Mahoney and Jones are below average D1 football starters. Gauthier is probably slightly above average at his spot. Navaughn might be gifted but he's not where he needs to be at RT. St Louis is a solid pass pro guy.

None of these guys besides Navaughn are plus run game guys, and he isn't getting to maximize his talent because we didn't recruit OT worth a **** the last 4 years. Recruit and then play average or below average kids and get average or below average results. My guess is that we're ******* up by not making some moves now that will be necessary when we play better teams towards the end of the year. We need kids with higher ceilings in the game even if it's painful for a while. You cannot ignore positions like we did at OL & DT, it always comes back to bite you.... and ESPECIALLY not THOSE positions, they're as important as it gets after QB.

Something about your few things...

1. How can “[everything point] to Felder doing a great job in terms of S&C” yet the OL not be capable of blowing anyone off the ball? And not be able to dominate the line of scrimmage while “literally playing a glorified HS team”?

Don't think it's Felder and S&C...looks to me like players not following proper technique and standing straight up upon snap of the ball. It's not rocket science, it leverage and physics. D lines are getting under (Lower than) our O line players and out leveraging them on the snap...this lack of technique mitigates any potential advantage we may have with strength and size.

Also, we are terrible with second level blocking with our O Line. When 1 of our guys are not blocked off the line and are free to get to the second level, we are whiffing on blocks/chip blocks on LB's/Safeties....Jones and St Louis have been the worst offenders thus far.

This is honestly infuriating. He can't really believe this, can he?

He is half correct as Cager in particular sucked several times on perimeter blocking on running plays going wide and WR screen plays. But the O Line has been flat out garbage too...

Guards are the weak link of the starting 22, if they can hold their own...........we fvckin

I beg to differ. Gauthier is AVERAGE at his position.

Another concern Cane fan doesn't seem to mention. With the exception of Tyree, the offensive line CARRIES too much excessive weight. Because watching several games this past Saturday, a lot of offensive linemen around the country don't have that excessive weight around their " beer guts. "

This offense has no identity. Story of Miami for last 16 years.

DING DING DING, the same thing I mentioned many threads back , we have no idea who we are were grasping for identity , we're even rating ourselves with SS.
Even this 77-0 win didn't help us at all in figuring this team out , we are headed for beat down of EPIC proportion as we move forward impersonating something we not even sure we even similar to , geez that sounded weird :)

You would have thought over 8 months this would have showed it's face , were basically running around with tremendous talent hoping something works and we'd say WE BACK....NOT.

THIS IS A COACHING THING THAT CANNOT IDENTIFY , WE GOT STUD RECRUITS JUST BEING PLUGGED INTO PLAYS IN HOPES IT WORKS.

I know there's super smart people here my question is who do we think we are, any ideas ????????????

GOCANES

St. Louis and Gauthier need more blame - not just Jones and Mahoney. None of these guys could shove my mother into a pool.

Golden recruited weaklings to play OL here. Richt, stop making us pay for it.

Grooming players at certain OL position is overrated. Most CFB teams do not stick to this, especially when their OL isn't very good. You just put the best five out there. I can't imagine, that in a real life scenario, Mahoney and Jones are better than Gaynor, but I am not saying Gaynor is going to be a shoe in All-Conference player either.

This is my thinking as well. If the coaches are 'grooming' Gaynor at C with our woeful guard play then they must not think Gaynor is much better than what we got right now.

My only issue with Gaynor at the moment is size. Its easy to look good when you, as an OL, outweigh the man opposite from you by a good 20 pounds.

His HS tape and in limited action, I've liked him in flashes. I am just not sure what we'll get from Gaynor with a full workload against lineman that are bigger than him.

The team needs series help at guard, so this can't hurt.

I saw him in person and assumed he was an OLB. I wouldn't have guessed his true weight. He played center in quite a few plays last year. I was surprised at how well he did as a Tr Fr C. I think he is mentally talented, which makes up for his size.
