Something I noticed (OL)

Searles needs to clean out his desk the morning after the bowl game.

Still don’t think that’s the answer. Just another example of incrementalism. Trying to fix issues with the minimum level approach first before going to the one most realize will eventually have to be the alternative used.

We have holes at both Guard spots and a lesser one at RT, where we’re trying to plug a hole with a player better suited elsewhere - ultimately creating multiple issues. I don’t expect it to happen for many reasons, but I still advocate for Donaldson to slide back inside and actually be a force for us (at least in the run game). Throw Scaife or freakin’ anyone else out at RT. It’s not like Donaldson is all that comfortable there anyway. Let Reed and Gaynor compete with Boulware at LG. Have the potential of a line worth a **** by November.

A few things....

1. What the heck has Searles been doing the past 2 and a half years? This OL isn't any better than when he arrived.

2. Everything points to Felder doing a great job in terms of S&C yet this OL still can't blow anyone off the ball.

3. We literally played a glorified HS team last night and this OL still couldn't dominate the line of scrimmage.

4. It's obvious that this OL unit still has too much dead weight. Milo, Jones and Mahoney should not be here as they are not UM caliber.

5. I'm no expert in OL schemes and how they fit a particular offense but my eyes tell me that maybe our schemes do not match our personnel and/or vice versa.

6. Barring a miraculous turnaround, Richt must make a move here and show Searles the door. He just is not getting the job done!

This! I practically posted almost exactly the same thing just a few minutes ago. Great minds think alike or so I've heard. LOL

tried to warn everyone Jasir wasn't going to get it done.
Always wondered about the guy. Our two guards might be rather ordinary. We need more, better recruiting at OL. Golden legacies. Hate to keep blaming it on that but there's truth to it.

When dudes are more concerned with their mullet than they are with man handling opponents then you know there's a real problem.

LMAO 👏,

Just think 8 months to get where we’re at now bloating over a terrible team whom played for a HUGE CHECK ( and a chance to sit at HUGE DESK) chest all pumped up and turnover chain galore .

My we’ve fallen to revel about winning games like this .

richt has been blunt that they inherited trash at the position. I cant fault searles because his recruiting has been very good.

What are these coaches doing in the off-season that they can't identify any of these issues until we sit up? This kind of stuff is supposed to be figured out in camp. For the most part at least. There are always some minor tweaks to the be made.

Move Gaynor and Dondaldson to OG. I'd rather have 1 weak link on the Line then 3. Play Scaife and take the freshmen lumps.

Seems to be a lack of meanness in the line. Also they play high (rears up too much) and let the d-linemen get under them...lack of a real push when the going gets tough at times.
Connolly, the ex- FSU OL doing the game last night pointed that out. He also kept talking about Miami OL needing to get their fits right. But I don’t know what that means.

Same with me. If you're only weak link it a RT, you can chip with a TE or H-back to help neutralize the DE. When you have weaknesses at RT and G, especially on the same side, you're F'd.

We've got this high four star prep mammoth offensive lineman in Donaldson, and I'm starting to just think we don't know what to do with him to maximize him.

I'm not privvy to our OL calls, but its possible they moved Donaldson to RT because at least out there he will have TE or RB help while at guard (a position he graded below average at as a freshman) he'd be left one-on-one more than you'd like, because he's got some slow feet. In a lot of offenses most will lean their help to the left side leaving wider alignment for the RG in pass protection - an area Donaldson struggled with as a freshman. Ultimately, Donaldson might be best suited and maximized with a move to LG if our calls often lean to the left side, or maybe we just let him learn on on the right side out at tackle while providing him ample help.

Unfortunately, one issue I was noticing more against Savannah State versus say LSU (because LSU's DL was just so much better than Miami's OL) was that the "help" was often poor. Mallory in particular really struggled picking up blocks or getting out there fast enough. Led Homer to getting hit early on runs to the right side.

The starting OLine is weak, slow and unathletic. there is zero forward movement with them. the run game coordination is trash and is really disappointing. Homer and DJ couldn't break off any runs until mid third quarter until Savanah St was getting worn down
