Something I noticed (OL)

I know one of the announcers, the x player, kept commenting how he couldn't believe Miami OL could not get ANY push v this horrible Dll front. I know they are Dl but he was considering their talent Dll, Didn't they get smoked pretty bad last week as well.

They some how regressed against savanah st and that announcer was spot on all game

richt has been blunt that they inherited trash at the position. I cant fault searles because his recruiting has been very good.
His recruiting might have been very good (although we've consistently whiffed on OTs), but his coaching hasn't.

He can't get a tune out of these current players at all.

Move Gaynor and Dondaldson to OG. I'd rather have 1 weak link on the Line then 3. Play Scaife and take the freshmen lumps.
Yeah he played Donaldson last year so I don't see why they're so hesitant to play Scaife. He's a similar talent, no?

We all know Eric Winston moved from Tight End to OT. Patchan family genes are definitely OL, not just his father. Mighta been better in hindsight to have bulked Scott up and used him on offense.

I think partly because Donaldson was so massive coming in, and partly because they started Donaldson at OG which is a whole different ball game than starting Scaife at OT.

Searles has a hard-on for upperclassmen, and Mahoney in particular. I don't give a chit how he grades out. He and Jones are weaklings and are holding us back.

I knew Mahoney would be ***. Didn't buy his hype. I was curious about Jones because we've never seen him. He ain't good either.

LT St. Louis
LG Gaynor
C Gauthier
RG Donaldson
RT Scaife

Starting to think

LT Scaife
LG Donaldson
C Gauthier
RG Gaynor/Reed
RT St. Louis

might be the best mix.

Would allow Donaldson help in pass pro and give St. Louis help chipping in the run game. Donaldson does worry me on the inside only because we have had a habit through two weeks of the left tackle sliding out a bit much leaving a big gap for the stunt and Donaldson doesn't exactly slide over naturally. Maybe Scaife out there could tighten it up? idk.

At this point we might just be putting puzzle pieces together that don't belong to the same set.

I noticed Donaldson playing some LT last night.

The FSU commentator was noting how high our OL played. I believe it was @Lance Roffers that noted that as well in his wrote up.

I am not an OL guy, don't know the proper technique.

What is going on here?

another thread around here someone pointed out the oline philosophy, don't remember it verbatim but its the equivalent of the dorito frog stance. the oline just stands up at the snap and doesn't fire off at the dline. like they occupy the line and let the rb find the hole. very frustrating to watch. some rpo bs. at this point i'm putting the fault of the oline squarely on richt. i think he's got searles trying to coach outside of his comfort zone. searles is recruiting fine. like has been mentioned, would be nice to have a better grasp of the personnel before game 4 or 5. again, something i put on richt. and don't put too much stock in how the young guys looked in the 3rd/4th quarter. that hs team was gassed.
