But time is now and this OL needs to be fixed and fixed now. So if Gaynor to G is going to help then got to go that route and worry about C next year.

Grooming players at certain OL position is overrated. Most CFB teams do not stick to this, especially when their OL isn't very good. You just put the best five out there. I can't imagine, that in a real life scenario, Mahoney and Jones are better than Gaynor, but I am not saying Gaynor is going to be a shoe in All-Conference player either.

the announcer even commited how gaynor came in and was bullying people.

Butch Davis was a Defensive god when it came to evaluating - and especially Defensive players.
 
i cant get mad at Searles. Im sorry. We have 3 freshman who can be all conference performers.He also got donalson, gaynor and flipped Herbert who was highly regarded the year before. Next year are line will be MUCH better but this year it will be a problem.
 
Can’t believe our first team oline run blocked better vs LSU defense than it did vs Savannah state
 
I said back in Spring Jahair Jones wasn't going to be a starter all year.

This is the thing that has ****ed me off the most about Searels is he always takes half the **** season to get the OL figured out.

He did it last year with Darling/Mahoney & in 2016 too with having to shuffle the line around after getting beat by Va Tech & Notre Dame when he kicked McDermott outside to Tackle & benched Linder for Gauthier.

Scaife, Reed & Gaynor need to be in the regular rotation. Jones needs to grab some pine. I okay with Boulware for now, but if he's struggling too one of those other 3 should be taking his spot as well.

Problem was and has been that we are one of few schools that practices 1 offense against a patchwork 2 defense. Top schools exclusively go 1's vs. 1's, or at least for a portion of practice. Richt probably felt good in Fall Camp with the 1 O Line against the 2 D Line.
 
Normally with a 62 point spread you can run up the middle for gash yardage all night long. That was as competitive as I've seen for that type of underdog on the line of scrimmage. Credit them or condemn us. Until Homer's long run down the left sideline well into the third quarter, we had 53 yards rushing
 
What is going on with our 5 star at tackle? I’ve read on here that guard is his traditional spot, but how can he be so poor at tackle with that type of upside? It seems reasonable that 5 star talent would translate better than that.
Feel for the kid as this has to hamper his development at his natural money position.

Scaife , he’s been impressing at tackle. The coaches acted surprised by that , which I don’t get. He was mauling mofos at the all star practices and game.

I’d like to see more of reed and Campbell too , over the other scrubs starting now
 
Searless is on my chit list...first he came from VT, which already had me grumpy AF with the hire. Now we can't dominate lowly SSU from the bottom of the FCS in the trenches...
