Someone Who Knows Things

Especially tough for a coach that has adapted to the portal by focusing on one position group at a time, like they will all be here in 2030 coming up from the Single A Tarpons...
Dude, Miami football (both college and pro) has been a thatch roof for as long as I can remember. There's a hole one year. It's plugged. But then a leak somewhere else. Rinse and repeat.

Just one time in my lifetime I'd like no leaks and a championship and I'll die restful and happy.

So this was all fun to argue but it’s 2am at the bar and even the tortas are leaving.

Is there a legitimate plan to land a QB or not? Because all this arguing is mute. If we don’t land one, you’re essentially punting on 2025 being a ceiling of 8-4…more likely 6-6 or worse.

8-4 would involve the defense doing a complete 180, Nickel being a stud immediately, the DL taking a gigantic step forward, Daniels turning into a WR1, Trader going for 800+ yards. That’s probably not happening.

The other thing people forget is how healthy we were in 2024. That’s almost guaranteed not to happen next year. What massive contributors did we lose to serious injuries? No one. We lost a Richard for like three games. Alston missed like 4 and he was a rotational piece. Bain missed meaningless non-cons and VT. We were extremely healthy for all intensive purposes.

Mario to the Jets to build their program and take it personal.

Feel like a lot of fans are playing monday morning qb with mendoza now that we are standing here ****ing into the wind. 4weeks ago only a few were chirping for mendoza. Everyone else wanted the flashier more dynamic option. Now all of a sudden mario is a fool and mendoza was the answer.

Mendoza may not have been the answer, but Mendoza was the pivot.

We will take a Portal QB. And I guaran-*******-tee that most people on this board will prefer Mendoza to whoever we take. Whoever that is.

So we'll be the same as the gators this year and the talk will all be about trajectory.

I'm fed up with mediocrity. When Mario was hired, there was lively debate about why it shouldn't take 3-5 years with the portal. We're going into year 4 with the expectation of it being worse than year 3. How is that a rebuild?
Good morning.

Lose UF badly or FSU badly or the first ACC game badly, etc lol. Same ****. Losing badly is bad no matter who it is too. But factually a ND loss has the lowest negative impact, especially since we are almost certainly not entering that game favored, whereas we may be favored in most games at least preseason.
From an ACC/season goals perspective it has a minimal impact, but if we get our doors blown off by ND after losing 3 of 4 to end this season, the vibe around the program is going to get ugly pretty quickly and it essentially turns the UF game into a must-win or else things will definitely get REALLY ugly.

you're a wildman for this one. Johnny B. Badd take.
Only time will tell... I'll own it if I'm wrong. Luke has it between the ears I think he's better than Raiola. I'm not joking either. If we didn't have a mature and experienced offensive line, I wouldn't be as confident as I am right now.

Every team is in the same boat as us! They Just need different things as opposed to us...you just focusing on us instead of fsu- needs a QB , so does bama, uga, OSU I believe Howard is done, and nd- Leonard is done,....etc
Every team isn’t like us. That makes zero sense.

Ohio state has Jeremiah Smith returning not to mention multiple high level recruits who are waiting in the wings. With PROVEN coaching. Comparing them to us is lunacy. UGA/BAMA projecting next year are likely better than us. UGA significantly. We don’t have anywhere close to the foundation those teams have. Ryan Williams would be our best player by a mile next year if he were here as a true sophomore at 18.

I have zero clue why you mentioned FSU as well. They were 2-10. That’s a team that shouldn’t even be on our radar. The expectation should be beating them. Nothing more.

All 3 of our WR's went undrafted, Damien Martinez went 7th round & Rivers went 5th round.

The highest drafted supporting cast for Cam was Arroyo.

Maybe to say Cam was a one-man show wasn't a stretch?
Then Dawson must have done a spectacular job coaching him, because Cam’s stats skyrocketed, he went from an average offense to the best in America, and he went from Day 3 to #1 overall.

The truth is it was more about the team around him than any individual improvement by Cam. He was already good and actually had excellent receivers at Wazzu. Kyle Williams was more talented than anyone we had and Josh Kelly was a really good college player.

But the difference here was the OL and the physicality of the run game. Cam Ward + Air Raid + Tuff and FyZiCal = elite offense.

That same OL that produced one 5th rounder & physical run game that produced a 7th rounder?

I guess so...

Cam’s offense went from 53rd in scoring at Wazzu to 1st by a mile at Miami. The running game went from 131st in yards per rush to 5th. And the 3rd Down offense went from 51st to 1st overall, five whole percentage points ahead of the second team.

Something changed in that one-man show from Pullman to Miami.

And they severely underutilized their most talented offensive weapon

Arroyo most yards of the season was Game 1

then he goes 8 straight games with 3 or less catches

Can’t wait to watch Seattle feed him the rock

Not really.

He had spectacular numbers at Incarnate Word as well. He was always great & has always been great.

The 2026 draft will show you exactly how great he is. The vaunted OL & physical run game you keep alluding to is not going to get drafted as high as you suspect & yes that includes Mauigoa.

Your boy Fletcher will be lucky if he's even a 6th rounder at best.

Not really.

This same team without Cam would've struggled to win 7 games.

The Defense was horrid & the Offense was completely engineered by Cam.
I’ve been thinking about this all day. Cam is def 1/1. Am I not high enough on Dawson? I think Cam made a lot of changes and made players look good…including our vaunted OL. He didn’t have NFL players around him per the last 72 hours, but he really made it work…
