Someone explain this defensive formation to me please

Dorito must honestly think he knows more than anyone else. What other coaches run defenses out of the formations we have seen in this thread?

Maybe they're trying to revolutionize defensive schemes like Bill Walsh did with offensive schemes??!?!? lol

What makes it so confusing is that not only does it put us in a matchup nightmare against the pass, with McCord or Harris lined up against a receiver out in space, but it also doesn't make any sense against the run. The only justification for staying in a base defense against 3+ WRs would be to stop the run, but the only way you stop the run is to outnumber the other team in the box (by having McCord, Armbrister and Perryman along with the 3 down lineman close to the LOS). But by leaving McCord on the field and having him way out on the perimeter, he's not going to be able to help against the run and he's clearly not going to be able to get to the QB in time. Even if they run in his direction, now you have him way out in space, trying to stop the run like a true OLB, which he is not.

What we end up with is a guy who is a very effective pass rusher either covering a WR (bad), trying to stop the run from way out wide (bad) and playing a reactionary role instead of an attacking role, where he has proven to be much more effective (bad).

I read somewhere that the reason they put a DE on the WR is to bait the offense to throw there and they scheme so someone else just flies in and (hopefully) makes the immediate tackle. That's got to be the dumbest strategy i've ever heard.

HOLY ******* ****

the longer AG and his mediocre band of fudge packers stay at miami, the longer we will continue to be irrelevant. these fuggin guys really dont know what they dont know. fuggin pathetic

Here's the thing most 3-4 are attacking defenses. No D wants to keep two safeties deep on every play. Thats why we have LBs out there covering, when usually if we are not in nickel a Safety usually takes the inside WR. I thought when they we're implementing this defense we were gonna see a bunch of zone blitzs with people flying from everywhere. Boy i was wrong. BTW Michigan St never comes out of their base D, or rarely do. I'd have to go check them out to see how they match up

I'm just kinda confused as to what we're trying to accomplish. What's our identity on defense? Personally i think we're doing too much. Sound defense is sound defense. There's no reason to run a plethora of ****.

K.I.S.S.

I liked the way Louisville ran their 3-4.

I think Oklahoma runs a **** 3-4 too, based off speed and pressure.

This combo of folden and no D have no clue what pressure is. Lucky for us ArkST didn't have a passing QB.

He is a passing QB, he just doesn't have good receivers, is 5-9 on a good day, and wasn't great against us. For the season he's thrown the ball 103 times in 3 games (completed 62 passes) for 603 yards with 2 TD and 0 INT.

It still infuriates me that nobody in the media has challenged or confronted Golden/Dorito on Xs and Os and these abhorrent defensive formations.

People miss the big picture. "3.5 per play" What'd you think it would be if we weren't lining up like our defensive coordinator was an autistic kid that won a contest to call plays for the week? We are showing 5 in the box and instantly giving an advantage to any zone read play. They have numbers, even more so when you count their QB as a running threat. That **** is IG'NANT. Straight IG'NANT.
I made a thread a while back that had multiple screen shots from our game at KSU. The general theme was that even before the snap, our defense was at a disadvantage because we were out-manned in the box due to alignment. I have no clue what goes through Doritos mind with some of our alignments, but we kill ourselves before the snap. Here's a screenshot from the KSU game. KSU has 9 in the box when you take into consideration their QB was a running threat. We counter with 6 in the box and soft cover-2 look behind it. **** is baffling.

I have several these screen shots from the KSU game where our defense looks out-manned before the snap. ****'s frustrating as ****.

Yep, same **** since the KState game. I was there. It was brutal to watch. They did the same thing the WHOLE game. No adjustment. I don't know if Snyder and their staff were the first to figure it out, or the first to hammer it all game, but they exposed the defense, and we haven't done anything to fix the problem in the past 2+ years. Some quotes from the post game:

Behind the masterful play of Klein, who was 9-of-11 passing, the Wildcats scored on their first four series, led 24-6 at halftime and then tacked on a couple late scores for good measure. "It's a step in the right direction," said Klein, who burnished a national reputation by bulldozing his way for 27 touchdowns rushing last season. "Credit our coaches with a great game plan going in, and putting us in some good opportunities."

Not just for Klein, either. John Hubert added 106 yards rushing and a touchdown, and Daniel Sams had two scores on the ground as the Wildcats (2-0) rolled up 498 yards of total offense while holding Miami to 262.

"They were excellent. They beat us in all three phases," Miami coach Al Golden said. "They outplayed us, outcoached us, starting with me, and that's it. No excuses. They deserved to win."

K-State attempted 11 passes and we never adjusted. These guys are retarded.
