Some perspective on this Butch situation and CIS

So we finally get rid of Golden and there is no more slurper vs mopers. We are all happy for a week or 2. Now it's becoming a Butch vs anti Butch thing.

For those who don't want Butch, I can understand your frustration with the Butch love as it is all over the board right now. I am a huge supporter of hiring Butch again and even I recognize it's a bit much at times how many threads are about Butch.

With that said, I see guys getting really carried away in desperation to downplay Butch. You guys will spout off all kinds of stats, but ignore all the important factors that don't show up on the stats sheet.

-People point out the players Butch had, but that was over a 6 year period and he was dealing with one of the worst sanctions in college football history. Just shy of the death penalty and he still maintained mostly 9 win season and got screwed out of title game. Keep in mind this was his first ever HC position, so yes, he made mistakes. **** happens. How many other coaches can say they were able to accomplish this? Someone tell me how great SMU, USC, or Alabama was after their penalties.

-At UNC he took over a 3 win team. He was the bottom of the barrel team looking up. He was not pulling a bunch of 4 and 5 star recruits in year 1 and 2. People act like good coaches just make bad teams into stars right away. It took Harbaugh 4 years to make Stanford good. Butch got hit with sanctions in year 4 with a team that was loaded and developed by him. Most high school kids do not come in ready to dominate on day 1.

He was also a coordinator/ assistant for multiple championship and super bowl teams.

I'm not trying to say Butch his better than Saban, especially since their career paths have been too different, but when we got guys calling him a bum and garbage, especially after what he accomplished here, it's a little ridiculous. This is not about Butch love. The guy built one of the greatest college teams ever and he did it for the U. Let's show this man a little more respect than he's trash. None of us love Urban or Saban, but you truly believe they deserve more respect from canes than Butch? If that's the case, you ain't a real fan or you're a scorned woman and please go follow those coaches.

No one here knows for certain that Butch can win in this era of football. I think he may be the right man for the job, but there are others to consider with equally, if not stronger resumes. Great Post... There are a lot of great coaches out there that could rebuild the program, but I favor Butch cause we all have seen him rebuild UM once before. The chances of a repeat performance is slim... but my money has to go with someone who has done it before. I think the up and coming coaches may have what it takes to do the same... but their buy outs and the competition for the service will boil down to dollars and cents and currently UM can't afford a price war... and why even go that route when there is someone out there we can afford... and who has already done it once before... Pull the trigger now and put him to work on this recruiting class. I think Butch can hold or even build on the 2016 class... I have never been Anti-Golden and have taking personal attacks because of that... I don't think Butch is a God and he would probably appreciate that... but bottom line He has been there done that.. and he is responsible for a couple of rings in the trophy case. We all regardless of your choice want to see additions to our collection.

Why go through a full and thorough search????????? Why go through the motions???

This is the thinking that people are rejecting. If we identify a better candidate than Butch, we need to do everything in our power to get that coach. If negotiations with said coach doesn't work out, you move on to the next most qualified candidate. Keep going and being told no until u end up at Butch. That is the only way to do this that makes any sense.

The thing about getting Butch that is even more appealing if that's possible than the other coaches is that you don't have to overpay to get him. Which would give Miami the ability to pay for top of the line assistant coaches and coordinators resulting in elite coaching which Miami needs the most right now

It's also hilarious how the cult is trying to make Butch seem like an innocent victim with the 13 suspensions at UNC prior to the 2010 season.

Please help me understand how Butch was the innocent victim there. Butch hires a DL coach, who was known across college football as Black Santa. He wasn't Black Santa because he hailed from the North Pole. He was a bag man. Known by anyone who followed college football as dirty.

So, Butch hires a dirty bag man. Said dirty bag man does his dirty bag man thing and is involved with an agent Gary Wichard. Same agent gets involved with a bunch of players throwing lavish parties and handing out gifts. Players get suspended for dirty dealings.

This isn't long standing academic fraud that predated Butch's arrival at UNC. This is dirty dealing with an agent directly linked to the filthy bag man you hired to get players for you.

I'll guarantee you this: If that was Folden who did that same thing at UM this year or last year, all you same cult members making excuses for Davis would have been calling for UM to fire Folden for cause for those dirty dealings.
